The brief downtime everyday is because of automated daily backup of proxmox vm. Our router can't handle more than 100 Mbps. We're kind of short on money as it's end of month. We'll build our own gigabit router using a HP Elitedesk Mini or Dell Optiplex Micro when things are back to normal.

The Speakeasy's blocklist is now published. Nothing surprising, but... if you are a new instance needing a hand it might be a good place to start?
We're not really sure how or whether to automate updates but if that's possible and not a time sink, we might.
Also note that it parallels our rules, so be sure you're aligned before you import!

Currently using my COVID to verify the validity of stuffs on various blocklists we initially used (and the stuff we added later)
Of the 200+ entries so far skimmed:
111 = valid blocks for Speakeasy rule violations.
25 = no longer resolve
18 = no immediate reason or not an Instance (more investigation required)
1 = disagree with inclusion
We're going to post our curated list after I finish. Yes, yes, w/e. Another blocklist. But if you like how we investigate / decide and you're a small instance, it might be useful?

Exposed all these through a Pangolin Tunnel on a $5 Linode VPS in Singapore. Using S3 for offsite backups. Next up, a Mastodon instance at social.buddyverse.net! Not sure what to do with the main domain yet, maybe just a page linking all services.

I finally got buddyverse.net rolling from my homelab. Dropped $650 on some sweet refurbished HP EliteDesk and Dell OptiPlex mini PCs. Got two Proxmox servers up, planning a third for OPNSense firewall soon. Here's what's live:
