Of the tens of thousands of servers on the fediverse, there are about 200 or so which have administrations which actively support Naziism, Pedophilia, Terrorism, and other serious issues which #Moderation on mainstream Fedi blocks on sight.
TechHub only blocks instances we see as a serious threat to our timeline / users, but we are old and I am thorough, and thus, we've accumulated a considerably large (200+) list of the WORST instances. I publish a curated and annotated version of this list so that #Staff / #FediAdmin s can see it, and potentially import all or part of our blocks.

In light that moderation issues will increase as we near the US Election, I have just pushed another update. I HIGHLY recommend every admin look at this, and consider importing all or part of it.

Vetted and added a few more instances, mostly what was missing from Binbows' PediKill list.
New list is at the same URL as the old one, can be imported on top of existing lists, see above post for details...

Reminder that this list is representative of instances where we have seen EXTREME behavior, beyond a single account: racial slurs, pedophilia, terrorism, CSAM, etc.
This list is not exhaustive: it is everything WE have seen direct cases of behavior we would block over, and we try to block sparingly. Instances may have slipped through the cracks. Not being on this list is not an endorsement.
This list is NEW. If anyone sees anything on this list that they feel was inappropriate, feel free to tell me, and I will go recheck it.

I have added the most popular Fediverse software to the sample config. Firefish versioning needs a custom regex 😬
Anything that's older than ca. 1-3 months gets silenced by this config, and versions that are ca. 1 year or older get suspended.
The script will demote any suspend to silence if the server knows about a follow relationship.
The current sample config will block around 4000 outdated servers 😱

Hey, #Mastodon users and #MastoAdmin thinking about Threads!
1: Users:
A: You can limit who can send you DMs/PMs! You can also limit notifications!
B: You can also block a site entirely for yourself.
See attached pics for how.
2: Instance administrators:
If you don't want to block threads.net entirely, consider these options for your userbase's safety:
A: Between "Full federation" and "Suspend" there is LIMIT, which hides content from an instance unless a user either follows the user posting it, or searches for it.
B: There is also "Reject media," which means you never cache a remote site's attachments. This de facto makes all such content sensitive ("unavailable"), requiring an additional click to view.

I think I now have only one remaining issue with my Mastodon instance.
I had lots of problems with the initial installation. So when this was finally successful I was so relieved I jumped straight in, imported my previous accounts and started using the @admin for everything. This name is becoming increasingly annoying.
Is there any way to rename or alias the @admin account? The account has owner privilege and is really the only active account on the instance.
