Much smaller than Babka but my backup excludes remote media cache so the total size is manageable. Also, regardless of backups, the retention period for remote media is set to one day to limit the storage growth.
If for some reason I need to restore from backup or migrate to another provider, a user accessing a remote post with an image will download that remote image again. Seems like a good compromise.
(I believe the #FediAdmin hashtag is appropriate)

I set up a peertube instance. The documentation is quite good so all I traps I stepped into were self made ðŸ«
So apart from the setup including a cache for the video storage: are there any recommended settings for a small server?
Like which transcodings do you prefer, if at all? Is there some stuff I should automate, like cleaning any activity pub stuff (thinking of Mastodon...)? Other checkboxes you can recommend to un/set?

We require you to state a reason you want to sign up to one of our instances. One word or otherwise short answers like "gayyyyyyy" or "for fun" simply won't cut it.
We get it. Why should you have to specify a reason of all things to sign up with a fedi instance. Especially one like ours? After all, we all know why you want to sign up an account and judging by the box of tissues next to you, you do too.
But that's not the reason we demand a reason.
We do it to weed out bots and scammers.
A bot just wants to sign up an account as quickly as possible and a scammer wants to sign up as many accounts as quickly as possible.
So that's why we require an actual response (that makes sense) as your reason for wanting an account.
Nothing more.

pretty sure I just successfully updated my @gotosocial instance to v0.20.0!
it's my first time, but i stopped my instance, pulled the latest version, then turned it on again and it's showing as v0.20.0 in `./gotosocial --version` which is a good sign?

Es hat etwas gedauert, doch es gibt einiges zu tun, wenn man noch keine Erfahrung hat.
Warum eine eigene Instanz?
Warum nicht. Ich hab einfach Lust darauf und hab Interesse an Technik und Software. Zudem ist das doch im Sinne der föderierten, dezentralen Netzwerke des Fediverse, oder?
Hab auch eine Pixelfed-Instanz, welche ich noch aufbauen muss.

As a timely reminder, our DNI list includes 77 domains we strongly recommend for defederation.
Some are known to be expired, but they remain on the list for safety's sake.
Each domain is labelled and was investigated by human review. This is not an automated or consensus list.
A Mastodon format CSV for import is available at https://connect.iftas.org/library/iftas-documentation/iftas-dni-list/
Inclusion on the DNI list means we are extremely highly certain the domain will never be retracted from the list.
