Meine wunderbare Kollegin @Linzspiration ist #neuhier im #Fediverse und wir versuchen mit wirksamen.social eine Instanz (für ein Bildungskollektiv) neu aufzubauen. Gerade auch deshalb wären Verbindungen mit ihr und damit mit der Instanz toll - es geht uns um potenzialorientierte #Bildung #Nachhaltigkeit und eine l(i)ebenswerte Welt! (Ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich mit meinem Account umziehe oder hierbleibe. Haben #fediadmin sonst vielleicht noch Tipps wie wir mit der Instanz vernetzter werden?)

Nononono, váyanse a la verga, una cosa es que te quieran colar un scam del príncipe nigeriano y otra es que quieran lucrar de esta manera tan asquerosa y nefasta.
Me acaba de llegar noti con un tag de... Esto,me he ido a asomar y la cuenta está generando spam a niveles inhumanos por lo que casi con total seguridad se trata de un proceso automatizado

Hey all - I'm unsure how many other #fediadmin accounts I reach out here, but if you didn't know, here's a #feditips for admins - you can now exclude certain text substrings from account names that users create when they sign up.
SO those of you running open-door registrations and not keeping up with the spammers intruding, one way you could help all of us is disallowing words like "masto*" "mastadon", "support" and "help" and "verif*" in account names.

(🤍 Nova) Everyone watch out! - the verification spam wave seems to be back. Assume that this will ramp up to how it was in 2025.
Admins: be ready to recieve reports and update your heuristics; also, be ready to rely only on content patterns (the bots could hijack accounts again, so the classic heuristics for finding spam bots will not work).
Users: if you get tagged in a post or reply saying that your account will be frozen or suspended unless you take action by clicking a link, please report it and verify with your admins before following the link. Following the link will get your account compromised.

Fedi admins with open sign-ups,
There are scammers active at the moment, and all of the scammer accounts have signed up on servers with instant signups.
To put the scammers off signing up on your server, you might want to set your sign-ups to "approval required".
To do this on Mastodon go to Preferences > Administration > Server Settings > Registrations tab > Who can sign up > Approval required, then click save changes.

There's been a spam/scam popping off around the Fediverse, which consists of bot accounts from big instances with open registration (e.g. mastodon.social, mastodon.world) that asks you to verify your identity.
DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK!
This is a clear scam, instead report these accounts to your instance admin.
