Fedi admins, you may want to defederate mastodon.cloud
There's a scammer registered on mastodon.cloud who is currently spamming people all over the Fediverse (https://digipres.club/@timixretroplays/116400799417215833).
Mastodon.cloud seems to be an unmoderated instance with open registration. It hasn't responded to multiple previous abuse reports, I'm guessing they will not ban this scammer either.
The admin of mastodon.cloud hasn't posted since February 2023 and its server software is very out of date.

🚨 Warning for Mastodon instance admins
Over the past few days, I’ve been noticing a wave of coordinated bot registrations. These accounts typically have AI-generated avatars, English names, and sign up using suspicious domains (.click, .work, tmail.mx, etc.) and similar IP ranges.
Behavior: they boost random posts to appear legitimate, but have 0 followers and no real activity.
✅ Recommendation: enable manual approval for new registrations if you haven’t already.

If you run a public Fediverse server, it's important to think about what you would do if it ever has to close down, even if you never intend to close.
Here's a guide to how to close your server gracefully, including a detailed example for Mastodon servers:
Having a pre-written closure plan relieves pressure on you if you ever end up having to close, and it also means your members can have confidence you aren't just going to vanish overnight.

In case anybody is confused about what is going on with todon.nl and todon.eu:
- About a week ago, a fairly new todon.nl user jumped over from BlueSky to harass a trans woman on fedi.
- That harassment is based on a lot of very niche queer politics from Tumblr.
- This harassment has escalated into at least five sock puppet accounts, with the todon.nl user making at least five fake accounts to dodge blocks.
- Todon.nl has taken no actions to stop this harassment.
Over the last three days the Meta AI user agent has been absolutely smashing our sign up page using random tokens - around one request per second.
All being blocked at the edge of course, but has anyone seen this???
#fediadmin did a secret patch update of GTS last night, which also reset the memory graph hihi
yep, this bullshit again (ai fuckery)
In the past, I've tried using #redis sentinel for this #mastodon instance. But looks like there is a long standing bug on rubby with redis sentinel.
I don't know if it has been resolved by now. But I think I found a quick resolve for this problem, using a redis proxy whose support sentinel. And one of my candidate is enriclluelles's redis-sentinel-proxy https://github.com/enriclluelles/redis-sentinel-proxy
Will try it soon. There is 3rd party container image at https://hub.docker.com/r/patrickdk/redis-sentinel-proxy
