I guess I'll have another go at #matrix, last test was just... Ugh.

#Matrix is a open protocol with server and client implementations.
#synapse is the spec server that has 100% implemented the protocol but there are others. https://github.com/element-hq/synapse
and @element is the most complete/popular matrix client.
But there are others too https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/
I personally use Element on desktop and Fluffychat on mobile.
Are there any good alternatives to #Discord that are not #Matrix?
I don't understand why #matrix hasn't tried to compete more directly with #discord. Just adding push-to-talk and voice-only rooms would go a really long way in attracting the gamer crowd.
More consistent ordering of rooms within spaces would also make it much more attractive to larger, more complex groups.
Can these things be handled entirely on the client side? Is there a matrix client that makes it more discord-like?
Can you recommend me a Matrix instance using a rust based server?

Due to the ongoing thing I've been getting a lot more visits to https://joinmatrix.org, so thank you for considering #Matrix! Feel free to use my guide to onboard your #Discord friends, and let me know if you got any questions or advice on improving the guide!

Small list I have put together for alternatives to #discord
I am looking at this from a non-technical perspective...
Willing to hear about other platforms though/
