Going through online verification for various jobs and signing processes, you have to do that goofy facial recognition process you can find everywhere - and now it's coming for discord.

Always the same bullshit. If you are on an instance running Version X that is several years old you should simply migrate your account to an other instance or if you are the owner of your instance do your job and keep it updated.
I haven't seen that happening on my instance for at least over a year.
Also, update your room versions from time to time.

Najważniejsze ficzery to komunikacja tekstowa, głosowa i screen sharing (by można było sobie streamować gierki nawzajem po kilka osób na raz).
Na pierwszy rzut oka Stoat mógłby być bardziej odpowiedni, ale nie wiem czy to z czasem nie zamieni się w kolejnego discorda, mimo że jest open source i w ogóle. Matrix jakoś porządniej wygląda, ale nie wiem czy się nada do mojego use-case.

I've used Matrix for years and the only times I've seen it is:
1) when logging in without entering the end to end encryption password or alternatively approving the login from another device
2) using a wonky client that doesn't support E2EE in an encrypted groupchat (and arguably there's no reason to encrypt groupchats to begin with)
it just kinda sounds like a skill issue? ngl
