What did I miss with #discord and #matrix? Is it a new drama or just revival of an existing one?
Also, I’m surprised at how many people look into #selfhosting up matrix servers for small groups when, in my opinion, #DeltaChat is way better and easier to use.

Ich muss noch mal Werbung machen, die APP #gadgetbridge ist Klasse. Meine watch läuft super und der Akku Verbrauch von Smartphone und Uhr hat sich auch verbessert .
Es gab ein Problem mit der Übertragung der Wetterdaten und wir sind jetzt schon 2 Tage im #matrix chat am tippen um herauszufinden wo das Problem her kommen könnte, die Entwickler haben merklich Spass daran Probleme zu fixen. Diese #foss community ist herrlich, ich freue mich so sehr ein teil davon zu sein.

I'm looking for a Discord alternative due to the upcoming change to make it teen-only by default. Of course I know of Matrix, but I've heard that there are still some server-side issues, such as keys getting lost. Is this outdated information, and would it be worth setting up for friends and family as an alternative to Discord for gaming? Or maybe even non-federated?

@staxl I really like the ergonomics of #discord . Channels, dms, videos, pictures, search bar and so on. Plus, their app is very comfy on phone. It helped me a lot to avoid doom scrolling on #meta . I wonder if #matrix could be close to this kind of ergonomic ?

#Matrix/#Element gives me a popup about my encryption settings. I should activate some setting (or not). There's a brief description that does not include a lot of detail. Only "stores message keys on the server". But with encryption keys I would like somewhat more detail about a setting like that.
Luckily, there is a link to the documentation.
Which then does not talk about this setting at all.

Given the recent influx of users on #Matrix due to #Discord's upcoming policy changes, time to revive a project of mine.

#furrymatrix is made to try and guide new peeps to friendly room that are moderated adequately, and active.
Sadly, it's a bit out of date, so any contributions are welcome.

As a side note, I know Matrix has flaws. I just want peeps that give it a try to at least manage to find one or two active rooms to test if the feeling is right.

@hellbeast @cmdr_nova I'll admit that I haven't really had a chance to check out #Matrix in any substantive way, so I'm not really certain about it. The specs seem fine on first gloss; at some point I'll test it against everyday use. (Another friend on here has recently stood a server up, so I'll give that a try in a while.)
