lil update on what i've been working on lately. game dev!
i'm doing very simple little games that turn out to need more work than originally thought. which goes to show that bigger games are a monumental task.
anyway here's my progress on an asteroids clone (which dabbles a little bit into things i love: space + physics)

For a long time I wanted to try and make some blinking lights.
"What's so special about that?" I hear you say. Well, you see - real server racks or nuclear power plant control consoles don't blink completely randomly. There's intricate relationships between individual lights, rows of lights, entire racks... and the time factor.
I have created a texture storing 256 different patters. Special UV layout + vertex colors + of course a special shader and we can have this:
Well... I guess I can also spin up a #Godot 4.5.2 version too for this upcoming update.
Small update video for my fishing game project, CoYL!
Put a lot more work into UI/UX things, this month:
Reworked menu management, gamepad/keyboard navigation, dynamic input hints, etc...
Stuff that isn't particularly exciting, but still very important!

Viimeisimmän peliohjelmointiharjoituksen tulos: buginen Pac-Man
Tämän harjoituksen myötä tuli tutustuttua myös Pac-Man -pelin sisuksiin. Yllättävän monimutkainen pelilogiikka senkin taustalta löytyy! Kiinnostuneet voivat lukea siitä täältä: https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/the-pac-man-dossier
Before getting back to in-game terrain modification, I wanted to try some basic procedural generation to make a subterranean environment.
(Noticed there's a missing tile variant, so I'll have to get that one added too!)

My hologram volume shader is available now! I'll post it to godotshaders later, but you can get it on itch now.
It's based on the thickness of the object so it gives an illusion of volume.
