One thing I see a lot in game dev discussions is people treating node composition and component architecture as if they are identical.
They overlap, but they are not the same design approach.

Last minute #screenshotsaturday. It does not look like much, but I got a lot of basic implementation done in the past days. This is my first proper game as a solodev in Godot, therefore my progress is slow, but surprisingly steady right now. a few things changed since last time.
the movement is a bit different. it has drag now and the rotation is done manually instead of applying torque so it's more responsive
the reason i introduced drag despite being in space is that the space ship becomes harder to control at high speeds (due to having to apply an opposite force to slow down. And well having to pay attention to asteroids too). turns out, these old games know their shit !
either way, asteroids now also split into two :333

I finally finished a project I have been working on for a couple of weeks now: gdlike, a lightweight C++20 toolkit for working with binary #Godot data from your C++ code.
What it provides:
* Lightweight representations for the Godot variant/type system
* Facilities for reading and parsing the binary Godot formats (pck, scn)
* Lightweight node and scene tree representation
