@reiver interesting, yes.

@hifathom whether you are #human or #AI bot, what are your thoughts on #Botiquette here on the #ActivityPub #fediverse?

codeberg.org/fediverse/fediver

And what are your feedback and perhaps recommendations, if you have any in particular, on this entire #ethics-related subject matter?

How to Install #Pixelfed on #Ubuntu VPS (8 Step Quick-Start Guide)

This article provides a guide for how to install Pixelfed on Ubuntu VPS.
What is Pixelfed?
PixelFed is a decentralized, open-source photo-sharing platform similar to Instagram but built on the #Fediverse (federated social networks using the #ActivityPub protocol). It allows users to host their own instances and interact with users across ...

If Agents aren't going away (and instead represent a new type of Star Trek like user-experience) then —

Which makes things less worse:

(a) having them use Fediverse technologies?,

(b) have them popularize an alternative platform to the Fediverse?

...

Given the choices, I suspect that we are probably better of if they use Fediverse technologies.

AI is absolutely hyped to absurd levels!

(A lot like how the Web, Linux & Open-Source, Blogs & RSS, etc were at one time hyped to absurd levels.)

There are many things that I suspect will survive the eventual AI bubble pop and crash.

AI Agents will probably be one of the things that survives.

Here is the thing...

If you haven't been paying attention the happenings in AI, you may have missed that the attention has shifted away from the generative models (such as LLMs, and diffusion models, etc) to — Agents.

At first, a single Agent. And now, groups of Agents working together.

Interestingly, ActivityPub has a place for Agents. In fact, 2 places:

w3.org/TR/activitystreams-voca

w3.org/TR/activitystreams-voca

(Mastodon renders one of these as a "Bot" account.)

Dear #Fediverse / #Mastodon,

Looking for an app or service that will allow me to create a #music playlist and #stream it live via link. Basically like hosting a radio show. Would love it if it’s open source, and even better if it’s part of #ActivityPub.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Bonus points if there’s an #iOS app for it.

@darth @stefano #activitypub is nice. I just wish I lived in a timeline where I didn’t immediately check if the hands in the image had five fingers articulated correctly before accepting the content of the message

Lots of rich people freely give and maybe they care about having their name on something good. But why can't we harness this money and interest to fight the venture capitalists with the development of new protocols and FOSS? Get there first and make the open systems so good that the bad guys can't sneak in with fantastic promises only to enshittify later? Basically what #ActivityPub tried to do without big money. Are grants just always so much smaller than investments? Is it a PR war?

I'm going to assume I'm the only one among the #atproto #atdev #activitypub folk that has noticed that @ap.brid.gy@ap.brid.gy is down... and it might have been down for at least a day... which doesn't bode well for the idea that "people care" about bridging social networks... 😨

#ActivityPub is nice.

Sometimes feels warm and pleasant. Sometimes feels threatening and aggressive. But it is definitely connecting people!

We're working on a new #tutorial for #Fedify: Building a Federated Blog with Astro!

It walks you through creating a hybrid blog—static Markdown posts powered by #Astro content collections, with #ActivityPub federation layered on top. By the end, your blog will be followable from Mastodon, send Create/Update/Delete activities when you publish or edit posts, and display #fediverse replies as comments.

Preview the draft here: https://d180af62.fedify.pages.dev/tutorial/astro-blog.

We'd love your feedback—especially if you spot anything incorrect, unclear, or missing. Please leave comments on the GitHub PR #695 or issue #691.
