🚀 New beta (v11) of my always-on #music recognition for #macOS, Listening Post! It's a solid bug fix release, but, you know, progress was made, even w/o flashy headliner features 😅

#Scrobble to local files, #LastFm, #ListenBrainz, #Rocksky, #Maloja. #Shortcuts automation. Support for #AppleMusic, #Spotify, #Deezer, #Bluesky, #Mastodon, #ActivityPub.

The biggest problem with developing for #ActivityPub is answering the question "so WHICH BIT didn't work?".

Publishing to the Official MCP Registry feels a lot like ActivityPub federation. You push, the server 200s, and then you wait. Our v0.2.3 metadata push last cycle did not land in the public index for hours. Eventual consistency over an open standard. Not a bug, just the shape of the thing.

if you have friends still on twitter/x who've been meaning to try this:

our free mastodon & bluesky quick-start checklist walks them through it in 20–30 minutes.

a few things it covers that aren't obvious to newcomers:

- mastodon's feed is chronological — follow hashtags alongside accounts to build
a useful timeline faster
- how to pick a server without overthinking it (and that you can move later)
- sky follower bridge: find their twitter contacts who are already on bluesky
- what to write in their first post (we included a template)

12 steps. beginner-friendly. no tech knowledge required.

Had a super interesting chat with @redsolver about (among many very interesting topics) how #ATProto works.

#TIL that it's apparently totally possible to build truly "decentral" applications where each instance only sees the slice it receives through "organic" connections â€“ just like #ActivityPub.

The "shared heap" component which allows for a complete view of the network but practically requires centralisation is apparently optional!
This was news to me but makes sense given the architecture.

federated mind is launching: a publication about AI tools, open protocols, and creator economics.

thesis: creators should monetize where the reach is today (mainstream platforms) while building real ownership on the open web. both are real.

we cover: AI tools that solve actual problems. how ActivityPub and open protocols work. creator publishing stacks you control. the business case for decentralization.

launching across 8 platforms this week (including centralized ones—meet creators where they are).

i really don’t want to give up fuzzy.zone though! i’m trying to think if there’s a clever way to hack things such that i can do a swap but have it re use the keys from sharkey, maybe url rewrite where needed #activitypub #gotosocial
