Situation: you dont have monitor and peripherals, nor an Ethernet cable (another fun solution), but you know your and your laptop are on the same network (or will be…) you can use on the pi to advertise itself on the local network as HOSTNAME.local.

Practically, this means once set up, you don’t need to know the current of the Pi to be able to in.

I still have a #RaspberryPi 400 laying around here from that time, they were much, much cheaper than a normal Pi4.

Which #BSD is fun on it?

#freebsd #netbsd #openbsd

NetBSD (working Wifi)
FreeBSD (unsupported Wifi?)
OpenBSD (unknown Wifi...)
Other non-Linux (comment)

I got my Clockwork Pi uConsole yesterday and OMG where has this thing been all my life!? Here it is running GQRX driving an RTL-SDR for some software define radio goodness.

I didn’t know it was possible to be in love with a piece of hardware but here I am totally nerding out!

@der_manu

Mich wundert es das Du das #SmartTV überhaupt ins Wlan lässt.

Auf dem #raspberrypi könntest Du die Mediasachen auch darüber laufen lassen.

In the end I did get annoyed by the fan noise, so I did some digging and found the parameters documented here:

github.com/raspberrypi/linux/i

work for for my use case so that the fan really only kicks in audibly if the #RaspberryPi is actually doing something, otherwise it's off or at least running at the lowest speed.

If you're using the #HomeAssistant OS, the easiest way to change this is to pull the SD card and edit on a computer. For the Raspberry Pi OS you can just edit it directly on the device.

Nice to have got rid of that quiet but noticeable whine.

@Offbeatmammal insufficient info but here's a guess, assuming you're using xrdp and X11 on the Pi: try installing xorgrdp on the Pi system.
