I was thinking about a #Raspberrypi as a basis, but I never had one and am unsure. Are there good cases and options to add enough storage? Or would I still need a NAS? Jellyfin recommends against it because it lacks power for transcoding, but I think my music should play well enough with direct play? Or should I think about something like a #NUC instead? I’m a little worried about power consumption if it runs 24/7. Recommendations/thoughts? 3/3

and, to no-one's surprise, the Toronto Raspberry Pi Meetup was cancelled. For perhaps the 15th time in a row.

@krutonium @landley @geerlingguy IDK but I also didn't knew that #32bit #ARM (i.e. #AMRv5r11 as used by the #RaspberryPi #Pi0 / #Pi0W) is out of patent protection...

Killing non-#64bit support in Linux would be a death sentence for many #EmbeddedSystems.

It was challenging to design such a small modular #3Dprinted #robot for #PiWars in 2024. I have started to work on the code again as so much was unfinished for the competition. This was my first robot using a #RaspberryPi 5 and my first robot with encoder motors. I wrote mechanum mixing with IMU support in #Micropython for the Motor2040 board, which the Pi5 talks to over the USB lead. After some work to better comment the code I have finally published it on github.com/Footleg/PiWars2024

@krutonium @landley I mean, Ideally @OS1337 would be come a simpler and better alternative to #LinuxFromScratch or #YoctoLinux / #YoctoProject when it comes to getting started on a device.

Cuz #RaspberryPi de-facto monopolized non-#amd64 / non-#ix86 - #SBCs because they actually give a shit and publish #documentation!
