I wanted to "properly" power my #raspberrypi 5 from 12V. Initially I wanted to go through GPIO pins with a buck converter, but then I thought "what runs on 12V? Car!" So I got a cheapish car lighter plug -> USB-C PD adapter.

It's tiny! It claims 35W, the Pi pulls ~10W at peak, so hopefully it's fine. Right now it's powering the Pi via bunch of aligator clip cables, I'm benchmarking it and it hasn't yet complained about undervoltage.

Fingers crossed!

One of the reasons why info-beamer still fully supports ancient Pi 1 models. Thanks! raspberrypi.com/news/raspberry

I saw this video about building a RaspberryPi-based router. Nothing earth-shattering here, but I was amused when he said it might look pretty large, but "it's nowhere as big as your momma." (around 7:35).

Yes I'm easily amused. That I sometimes watch random rpi project videos is evidence of that.

I'm delighted with new features in #wsjtx 3.0-rc1. In it, there's support for #cloudlog (although it did require some ssl certificate taming to get it working on my self-hosted instance - turns out #raspberrypi #debian repository doesn't come with #letsencrypt support out of the box 🙄). I can finally put to rest the cloudlog #aurora which, it has to be said, served me remarkably well under #winehq .

Most importantly for me, as a #hamradio #satellite operator, is 1st class support for 🛰️ QSOs 🎊

Adafruit had the GPS antenna in stock again, so if it comes on Friday as expected I can resume the building of the NTP Stratum 1 clock on the Pi.

@RPiSpy this is a complete nonsense - if they were supporting and in order to reduce they are generating every day they’d publish the for the and sell the replacement parts for - , and chips to begin with.
