Minun Godot-harjoittelut jatkuvat. Nyt vuorossa oli Super Mario -klooni.
Keskityin tässä tekemään jotakuinkin ehjän kokonaisen maailman, rakentamaan liikkuvat viholliset, joilla on eri tiloja. Tässä sai myös hyvin harjoiteltua interaktioita eri objektien välillä, tilojen hallintaa ja paljon muuta.
Olisihan tuohon voinut laitella lisää animaatioita, ominaisuuksia, ääniä, musiikkia ja muita yksityiskohtia, mutta oppimistavoite tuli tällä raakileellakin saavutettua.

Real-time interactive milling simulation using exact mesh booleans (~1 ms per step).
I teased this on the weekend. This is super hard for various reasons.
The sphere is actually sweeped each step, so we have a unique ~300 tris mesh each time. No preprocessing possible.
Then the sweep starts at the exact location the previous ended, meaning ~100 coplanar tris each time.
The workpiece accumulates triangles away from the "action" which must not affect perf.

There is an open source model world for Godot, with ladders and most of the modeling however I cannot remember what it is named.
The little coloured light in the Kitties' helmets (which has been there since the very first video I posted of the game) was never explained, but it serves two purposes:
1. It lights up the model's face so you can always see your friends yapping with VoIP
2. It is the in-lore area where the Kitties' HUD is projected from
The latter is now more obvious with the beginnings of the new HUD I've been working on! It updates to match your chosen equipment colour! 🐈

Tuned terrain generation and made a prototype cutaway effect, to get a general sense for how the underground might look.

Back to normal service. Picking off some easy wins after that week of frustration.
Pushing blocks uphill is now smoother (there's a slight animation hiccup the movement is smooth)
One of the edge-case issues with Sonic is that, on flat ground, his left/right push sensor is at his ankles. On slopes it's from the origin.
I've added a new push sensor from the origin that only triggers other blocks (no repositioning) if the original push sensor doesn't hit anything
