My experience with #ubuntu is usually very good. Every now and then I run into weird issues though. For example the last few days, all of a sudden my mouse/trackball starts lagging....
I can't switch my main development machine to something else, I can't afford any delays. But... I do have an unused Intel NUC and I am going to try #archlinux on it. The most important things for me are #dotnet #vscode #godot #blender #kdenlive #inkscape #draw.io #gimp, etc...

how hard does it need to be to play a sound in #godot ? I've been at this for two hours already. Good grief.. this is making me feel like a first-class idiot. This frustrating and disempowering experience is killing my motivation.
I checked that my project audio bus is working. I can test playing a sound in the project editor on an AudioStreamNode that's in the scene. I know the editor can play the sound because I can also play it while previewing it in the resource editor.
I want a globally available sound node, so I'm trying to create a AudioStreamPlayer instance programmatically, via script, set the stream to an ogg vorbis audio file, and play it. It's like the audio channel is being muted, or the node is not connected to the master bus or something. I checked that the default bus for an audio instance is "Master" so I should not need to set this explicitly.
Even doing it the "simple" way, making a AudioStreamPlayer in my scene and then scripting up the interaction to play it is not working.
It's even more frustrating that I not only got a full night of sleep, I have eaten very well and exercised very well, socialized very well too, and I got a bonus nap in the afternoon.
Too realistic… turns out it was a bug 😅 (already fixed)

some progress from today, made the ui functional (if not pretty), also your dash and shots spend energy so you cant abuse them, will also have another mechanic that needs energy but i havent implemented it yet, also made it possible to upgrade your max health and energy.
