I heard that the new Nanite solution for distant foliage in #Unreal is voxels. That's curious as the original presentation for Nanite said they considered voxels for the general case and went with triangles instead.

I want to see if it ends up implemented in something open like #Godot eventually

Mentioning massive performance problems of #UE5 games and the recent development with #unity is all something I already experienced in a company at work.

This includes a game made with UE5 with terrible performance, and one in unity, with very few seats/ licenses to save money.

That is also why I personally love to use #godot, engine and games are working too good on old hardware.

Threw together a pixelized outline shader this afternoon in #godot. I'm thinking of moving more towards #pixelart and #3D combined artstyles in the future, those really speak to me.

I've been working a bit more on #LiquidSimulation for my game, and I'm starting to be happy with the results.

My objective is to simulate rivers and lakes on a "large" world (20km x 20km), and allow the player to modify the terrain, build dams, locks, underwater buildings... This is a 3D simulation, which includes the possibility to make underground rivers (communicating vessels), etc.

As you can see, rendering is ugly for now (not my focus yet)

Hawk Hill Manor
Finally fixed movement code. Citizens rehome if House is destroyed.
Haven't figured what to do when rh homeless yet. Probably send them to The Manor House.
Next, replace destroyed building with ruins and swap inventory.
