uhh uh anyway here's some gameplay of one of the prototype projects i'm working on. very much inspired by celeste! the goal with this was to make it feel as fluid as possible which i thinks makes it fun to simply run around

Created a very simple drawing routine to draw the "surface". Now the rubble and craters roughly line up with visuals of them. This is more useful than getting a photo and painstakingly lining up my definitions to the photo.

Added random craters and debris. Obviously not matching the image, but fully functional otherwise, forcing you to slow down dramatically and costing you hours.

Hawk Hill Manor
Stumbling my way through Collision Layers.
Buildings, Workers, Gatherables (and other scenery), Spirits...
They all seem to interact with the NavigationRegion
I've got Raycasts for placing Buildings and Gatherables in unoccupied areas.
I think the Spirit "Blight Aura" is hitting what it is meant to.
Rebaking the navMesh takes far too long, but I don't know how to improve it.
Still lots to solve.

Day 21

I have improved the main menu a bit. I've decided to give it the tagline "One of the desert pizza delivery games!" as a play on "The ultimate desert pizza delivery game" of the original Pakoon.

The banding-tastic background effect is also based to mimic that of Pakoon, though I think that one just used vertex colors on a quad. I don't know how do, so now I have 4 gradients.
