If Bluesky was actually federated, not even decentralized, this headline would be like saying "Email Blocks Service in Mississippi Over Age Assurance Law". It's technically infeasible for an organization, even the one that develops the service, to unilaterally block access to its service unless it's centralized or you operate the entire communication fabric.

Maybe I'm just a misanthrope, but I mostly expect the recent #bluesky censorship drama to lead to a re-migration to twitter, not a second migration to #mastodon.

I guess good thing I left #Bluesky completely and finally about a week ago and I guess good thing I ain’t in #Mississippi and I guess we won’t be seeing no posts from Brett Favre anymore 😂
They labelled this pic from #Gaza 'graphic media' and forced it from view. #Genocide is graphic. Very.
Helping conceal it is not a service to mankind
#BlueSky is just a castrated 'X'

違反すると1ユーザーあたり $10,000 の罰金らしくてどこまで小さいサービスに適応されるかは不透明だけど、 #Bluesky と同じように念の為ミシシッピ州からのアクセスをブロックするとアナウンスしてる #Fediverse

Thank you for sharing the interesting list of PDSs (Personal Data Servers). I understand and agree that AT Protocol is a federated protocol.
After quickly browsing your shared list of PDSs, I see that bsky.app is the only public node where an end user, like me, can create an account and join. The other option is to self host a PDS. fedidb.com provides me all the available public Fediverse server nodes where I can create an account and join without self hosting.
everyone should read this in my opinion dustycloud.org/blog/how-dec... #Mastodon #Bluesky
How decentralized is Bluesky r...
Unlike Fediverse[1], there is no public list of Bluesky PDSs (Personal Data Servers) because most PDSs are self-hosted by users and developers.
Yeah, this Mississippi thing makes it clear that #Bluesky isn’t decentralized at all, though as David Golumbia discussed in his last book, _Cyberlibertarianism_, it isn’t clear whether “decentralization” writ large is innately a good thing (in Mastodon’s case, it probably is because it prevents it from becoming as enraging as other services; but many see this instead as a bug rather than a feature, i.e., it’s “less engaging”). I don’t like #bluesky but the new law in Mississippi that they just copied from the #uk is forcing them to disconnect from the state. We are living this scary future today. #usa #news #Politics

In addition to the independent PDS, there are fully independent sites running on ATprotocol. Video, events, whole communities like Blacksky, and more.
The basic gist here is the spread of Bluesky misinformation does the Fediverse no favors, so maybe don't do it?
