how would we use the web itself if anything you posted on your own blog could subject you to legal repercussions from a town with 10 people you never heard of in another country, just because somebody there could browse to it? "free speech" would be limited to wealthy people with legal teams.

If you run an online service, why do you have to follow laws in other jurisdictions to prevent people from those jurisdictions from accessing your service?
Their government should only be able to regulate the people and businesses of their jurisdiction. Their government should have to try to force their local ISPs to prevent access to whatever "bad content" is now deemed illegal to access.
You know, like other dictatorships.

now there's something interesting about that:
bluesky is run by #crypto bros
in crypto, promising a lot, not delivering, but generating devotion off of the promise, is the standard grift template

the misinformation in question is representing #centralized #socialMedia like #bluesky as if it were decentralized
we all understand the amazing tech that *promises* #decentralization but the *reality* is that it is not
the #fediverse is genuinely decentralized, and bluesky may one day be decentralized
but it isn't now

Unpopular opinion: I would have preferred that #Bluesky had caved to the #Mississippi law and forced all users to hand their personal information to keep using the network - if only to prove that #ATProto is not yet decentralized enough to withstand users migrating elsewhere.
