Bluesky is blocking its service in Mississippi over a new age-assurance law. In order to comply with HB 1126, which requires platforms to introduce age verification for all users, the company would have to make substantial technical changes. Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.
While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.
With legal challenges to this law pending, we cannot justify building the expensive required infrastructure.

Since everyone's talking about #Bluesky now, here's something I found: http://skytube.video
It's like #PeerTube but for Bluesky, and IMO that's a bit of a stretch. It seems to just be a way to only see videos from people's bsky accounts, it's not really its own platform like PeerTube is.
Anyways, the conclusion to this story: someone on Fedi that I found was plugging Bluesky and related services relentlessly, and I clicked this link and it wouldn't load any videos and then crashed my phone
