Internet → Nginx (YunoHost) → HA

Zavřený port, čistší architektura a o starost míň.

Self-hosting je nekonečný projekt 😄

#yunohost I did manage to download .tar backup , 25 minutes.
I cleaned up what remained on current of peertube since it was removed.
Then i launched backup restoration

yunohost backup restore 20260307-171948

took more than 25 minutes, due to slow hard disk.

And up again.

this problem was somehow known https://forum.yunohost.org/t/failed-to-upgrade-to-peertube-8-0-1-ynh1/41246

it happens when upgrading from old version.

Systems should be maintained constantly, lagging too much in version is really at cost.
Here it was stopped for near two years, clearly a bad idea.

@bloodaxe
I just have one week of experience so far wih #yunohost, but it's very easy to set up and they have automatic diagnostics checks that among others, check your security.

They have several Matrix options out of the box, haven't tried any, not a big fan of Matrix myself (it's not very userfriendly).

@jake4480 I just use #Yunohost in a VM on Ubuntu (in an old Alienware tower). I probably had a more detailed post about it on Lemmy. That was kind of my plan, to use my own Lemmy community like a blog. Performance was tolerable until I set up a bot to automatically join communities and help the network. It seemed like that's when it started becoming unusable.

@xeophin I understand not everybody can do this (for any number of reasons), but I've set up my own home server 6 years ago with minimal maintenance using #Yunohost.

I have my own cloud storage (#Nextcloud, vastly superior to Dropbox) and a bunch of other web apps including the Fediverse instance from which I'm writing.

We need to get out from under big tech's thumbs...

unfortunatly #yunohost upgrade didn't go that smoothly with the upgrade of the old #peertube 5.1.0...

Why do i like #yunohost ?

I did upgrade an old #nextcloud 26 version using yunohost webinterface app upgrade.

And it went smoothly.

I would have done that manually that, i would have had to get to all major versions one by one, since it is the way #nextcloud upgrade works.

So it was done within ten minutes. Really a banger !

I have setup #Restic backups on my self hosted #YunoHost system. Incremental de-duplicating backups that are encrypted by default. I'm paying a very small fee to use a BackBlaze B2 bucket ($0.14 per month). The restic app is fully integrated with YunoHost, kudos to the developers (I'm donating 5 € per month to support YunoHost).
