I see that there are now #Debian arm64 images for Trixie that are supposed to run on the #RPi5 : e.g., https://cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/trixie-backports/20260209-2383/

I'll try them myself in the next few weeks.

Milestone complete! Slackware AArch64 installed on the RPi5 using mainline Linux 6.18. What would once have taken weeks of R&D took just a few hours with ChatGPT. It's been fun!

There remain upstream RPi5 issues - the pin controller causes an instant hang, but compiling out the offending module and applying a small, reversible diff got things moving.

ChatGPT made some comical errors though - suggesting I wipe out the RPi boot loader config with debug logs 🙂
