How do I measure width of short pulses on non-realtime Linux?
I registered a course at the university where they want to use #RaspberryPi 4 with CPython. They gave us HC-SR04 ultrasound distance measurement module and the instructor (which even _said_ that they're mostly clueless about the project implementation 😅) recommends us to do that in software (running under CPython – wtf‽). I've seen even things like “usleep(.0001)” in their code with assumption there will be no additional delay.
I've done this before (but quite a long time ago), but on AVR, so there was no problem with precise time measurement, of course. 😅
The GPIO accesses do ioctls, so I assume that the kernel might block the process for indeterminable amount of time, especially when the system is under load.
I'm new to doing such time-sensitive I/O stuff on non-realtime system (that's why I chose this course 😅) and I want to learn more in general.
Assume that I don't want to write a kernel module for this.
Progress on Norri Audio devices. Raspberry Pi endpoints with aluminum enclosures, amplifier HATs, and a read-only OS to prevent SD card corruption.
Supporting AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, and OpenHome Sendspin. We think we may be developing some of the first devices to support Sendspin, a new multi-room protocol from the OpenHome Foundation.
These are entirely optional. Norri works with any compatible speakers already in the home.

Installed Basillisk II (using an SDL version and not X11) on a Pi displaying on a fixed resolution (1536x2048) HDMI LCD. The LCD also has a fixed rotation (90 degrees CCW) so I have to put in a rotate=270 in the cmdline.txt file. This works fine for the CLI.
However, starting Basillisk II, the screen rotates back 270 CCW. Is there a rotate setting in Basillisk (I can't find one) or some other setting to get it to display the right way up?
