Seems like my #matrix media repo sometimes freezes for some unknown reason, anyone else experiencing this?
(repo has last commit 10 months ago, is this still the way to go? should i look into alternate solutions?)

Remember when The Architect told Neo that the first Matrix presented a utopia for us, and it was a complete failure because we're more complex than that? What if the whole point of the "AI" claptrap, isn't to answer questions FOR humans, but rather to answer the question, "HUMAN?" What exactly does it take for them to turn us from sentient beings with agency, into a more efficient 'coppertop'? Anyway, just an early morning musing...🤔

@elena My 8yo got #phone 2 years ago to find out how to work with it, learn about security, phone controls and such. No SIM card for one year.
Turns out - unless you leave algorithmic parasite apps in the phone - she uses it quite productive and without any sign of addiction or dangerous behavior. Most of the time she was looking at local-TV educational vids, she tried some games (not for long though) and listening fairy tales to sleep. She also had account on self-hosted #Matrix instance where she texted me to job or when me and her mom were shopping. Actually, even though I say "texting", she mostly uses Speech-to-Text or audio messages (I never teached her how to use them 😀 ).
At this moment she already have phone number and uses it exactly as I would like to - calling grannies and coordinating going out with her friends.
I do think - unless we screw up the #parenting - our #kids can do much better with phones than we do.

To je boží, jak #Matrix umožňuje do chatovací místnosti přidat živý stream (teď právě z Matrix Conference). V Elementu to funguje přes widget, takže to "jen" zobrazuje obsah z jiné stránky, ale uživatelsky je to velmi příjemné. V případě konference, která má každá místnost svůj live stream, jen přepínáte chaty a připojujete se k živému streamu v dané konferenční místnosti, paráda.

Got #prosody running and also established #coturn for stun/turn on the test server. It looks pretty good and is very lightweight, and #conversations looks like a decent client. happy so far...
But compared to #matrix, the huge amount of features and XEPs is a different story.

I don't care if 'nation scale' scalability in synapse is proprietary, fair enough.
But I do care that in 2025 it's still not possible to run a federated homeserver with reasonably low resource usage. Matrix has failed in this most important regard. #matrix
