found out the cause of all the objects disappearing but still being interactive.
turns out that for whatever reason, when the level swaps, the camera i use for the Eversion effect becomes the current camera, despite the main camera still being active. if I set the main camera as the current camera again, all the objects show up as expected.
why !!!! i'm not setting the current camera anywhere !!!!! why does this happen and only at runtime ??

Pathfinding is still completely whacked out.
Can't seem to find where the issue is :(
Workers don't like going to some places far from their initial Spawn. And take odd routes.

Seems that Virgil is disabled in newer ChromeOS releases > 131
so software renderer it is then : OpenGL API 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 22.3.6 - Compatibility - Using Device: Mesa/X.org - llvmpipe (LLVM 15.0.6, 256 bits)
I thought creating a 2d navigation map was going to be a chore. How wrong I was, I'm having way more fun than expected and surprised by the strangely beautiful result.

Long time no toot! - but I am still working on game dev in some capacity. My new PC is nearly up and operational, so progress on larger projects will speed up again once that's all setup.
However - I've also been dabbling with Behaviour Trees and using that to make a gritty stealth shooter, visually inspired by games like Quake and grungy VHS tapes. You know what that means - screenshot time!

I'm working in internationalization, and it's really fun to see the menus update the language in real time when you change the setting.
