This week I made the hit and explosion effects look nicer by redrawing them instead of just scaling them up.

I'm also exploring options to better convey how skill power, ATK, and DEF affects damage.

So, oreilly.com Abo für einen Monat erneuert 😊

Habe ein paar Blender und Godot Game Engine-Kurse ausgesucht.

Meine Kenntnisse in Sachen Blender habe ich noch von 2011 (Blender 2.6.X).

Viele Dialoge und Workflows in Blender, die ich mal kannte, gibt es nicht mehr.

In der Godot Engine habe ich mal mit einem Buch von 2024 einen 2D-Platformer nachgebaut.

Godot für 3D-Spiele und Blender Characterdesign heutzutage -> Keine Ahnung.

Bin mal gespannt, wie es nach ca. 50 Stunden Videokursen aussieht.

Vielleicht finde ich ja nach 12 Jahren wieder Gefallen an Gamedesign als Hobby 🤔

I recorded some video of how the prototype works now. It's essentially a clone of Dispatch's dispatch, but it's got a few tweaks.

Everything's placeholder, but this is basically an imagining of the tutorial.

Another friday, another update to my #submarine #game made with the #godotengine

This time with a video to showcase the corals in motion and a some screenshots showing the settings my terrain scatter system now has. I've experimented with threading, but the threaded computations have been much much slower compared to if the computations where running in the main thread. To reduce the stutters I've now moved the computation to be deferred but in the main thread. So each frame will compute instance positions of only one type of coral. There are currently 22 different types visible at the same time.

I translated an addon from C# to GDScript (why? IDK, it was a bit of a torture taking into account that I never used C# in my life before this), and even though I don't see any obvious errors, it is not working at all. If a kind soul would want to check what's going on, that would be lovely!
