Complex input question:

I have a 3D in-world screen with a 2D UI on it via a subviewport and a material. I'm forwarding all the events through this function, and they all work except-

No hover. So no tooltips.

Can anyone explain how to trigger the tooltip? Or will I need to program my own tooltip system?

GridContainer lacks a couple of features I really needed for the kind of UI i'm going for, so I made an extended class that adds them.

Maybe I should try PRing this into the engine when i'm done with my game? The most popular workaround I'm seeing shared around is "a class that creates HBoxContainers for each row with VBoxContainers inside at runtime", which probably works, but then you end up with a lot of extra nodes, and with your children scattered around many different containers instead of just one, and not having real-time preview in the editor. I feel like GridContainer should just actually have this functionality.

Found some time to do more work on my tactical RPG prototype.

I've a lot of basic stuff in place: turn order, victory conditions, movement, context-sensitive attack targeting (but not actual dealing of damage yet...), and enemy behaviours (sentry-types who wait for the PCs to come to them, hunter-types who come to the PCs, and guardian-types who guard capture points).

Still to do: loads. Maybe get rid of the grey expanse that makes my screenshots look so drab.

if their new fees and other anti-consumers decisions didn't convince you to use

I’ve realized that I can never make a living from this. Game development is just not worth it anymore in the current economy. After 3 years of game development, I’ve earned this amount of money & followers. From now on, I’ll be focusing on other projects #gamedev #indiedev #godot
