@FeloniousPunk #Bluesky seems to be the bad bank of the #Fediverse ... hope we manage to get some out of there.
Today on NovaLandia: Things people outside of the Fediverse may still believe about Mastodon and the Fedi in-general, that aren't true anymore, actually. Plus, a reference to the Stanley Parable

Welcome back.

Gerne teilen. Danke 🙏

Fascinating how nothing galvanizes #Bluesky like hating The New York Times, and yet some of the NYT’s writers (e.g. Bouie) are among the site’s most revered users. To me, the former attitude feels like misplaced rage; you could’ve turned the NYT into a communist propaganda rag 10 years ago and it wouldn’t have made a lick of difference in the country’s political outcomes. Fixating on it is a total waste of time.
When I save a #Bluesky post: Haha, lurker mode
When someone saves mine: Who is this sicko??

After my last ban on Bluesky, for shits and giggles I decided to make a liberal sockpuppet account and see how many followers I could get on it while behaving like a caricature of a liberal. So I made my account, followed a few "blue wave" starter packs, and replied vapid nonsense to popular posts.
The result? In two days I gained 745 followers, as the below screenshot demonstrates. Within another three days I was at 1.4k - the most I've ever gotten in Bluesky due to the short lifespan of my accounts. People I'd never so much as interacted with before were adding me to starter packs and tagging me in follow train posts. And all this with *zero* connections going in, with posts primarily consisting of completely bullshit one liners, e.g. "Christopher Columbus was antifa", "Welcome San Diego police to the resistance", and "God bless the United States of antifa".
Unfortunately, I was banned rather swiftly (I think I accidentally re-used an email address) so I was unable to take the experiment any further, but by all accounts I would have continued rapidly gaining followers.
I think this highlights a serious issue, which is that Bluesky liberals, with their asinine follow 4 follow spam, are *incredibly* susceptible to grifting. If I was able to do this well while mainly posting nonsense takes made to make myself and anybody else associated with me look bad, how much more reach could I have gotten if I'd actually committed to the bit wholeheartedly? Hell, had I not messed up, I probably could have kept this going indefinitely.
Others already have, e.g. a ~170k (IIRC) account I became mutuals with that alternated between reskeeting news and advertising t-shirts, and the infamous Alt Government accounts, which similarly exist as a vehicle for merch, but take it a step further by incessantly plagiarizing breaking news and posting """""coded messages"" in the form of random numbers to make them seem like a QAnon-esque underground network.

@Sascha If I understand correctly, just yesterday (!) this kind of functionality has been added to PDS Moover, the most popular third party migration UI tool, so this might now be much easier than what's described in that blog post above: https://retrobailey.leaflet.pub/3m3ntnjv3hc2x
@Sascha For the ideal/normal scenario, the old PDS needs to be active & cooperating. It *may* be possible to get out in an "adversarial" scenario (PDS dead or gone rogue), but you need to have a recent backup and you need to have set an additional access key that you control up front while you still could (which is not a default).
There's a (technical) blog post about this here: https://www.da.vidbuchanan.co.uk/blog/adversarial-pds-migration.html
