Built a receipt scanner with Python OCR and it turned into a full finance toolkit.
5 modules: receipt scanning, portfolio tracking, report generation, job tracking, subscription auditing.
The OCR is about 90% accurate on real receipts. Image preprocessing (deskew, contrast, noise reduction) was the key.

The #SEO community is now turning against #ownedmedia in favor of "being part of the conversation".
In other words, "go spam #reddit with your crap self-promotional content" so the LLMs will (hypothetically - not theoretically) include your brand in their citations.
I'm much more fond of the idea of taking advantage of federation on "owned media". It's still in its infancy but it's improving.

Zur Zeit wird in Jura-Kreisen heiß über KI-Einsatz diskutiert. Manche glauben, bald bräuchte es keine Jurist*innen mehr oder zumindest viel weniger. Andere glauben, KI könne nie auch nur annähernd so umfassend abwäge, wie Menschen.
Nicht selten gilt auch hier: argumentiert wird umso meinungsstärker, je kenntnisärmer die Diskutant*innen sind. Vor allem ein unglaublich wichtiger Aspekt wird praktisch komplett übersehen, von Befürworter*innen wie Gegner*innen.
Deshalb habe ich versucht, die technisch bedingten Potenziale und Limits von KI, vor allem von Großen Sprachmodellen (#LLM), etwas näher zu beleuchten und daraus abzuleiten, was KI in der Justiz können und dürfen sollte.

We're starving, we hardly eat & don't have a car. We're all incredibly ill, both physically and mentally w/ only 1/5 members of my house capable of work. I'm trying to get disability, but that takes a long time.
My family has been in poverty for years. We cannot even afford to get my Mom to her surgery on Tuesday. My dad has been skipping psych meds to make ends meet sometimes.

Mastodon has lately hidden the replies tab to a toggle in a non-obvious drop-down.
Given that reviewing a person's replies is a key way that I screen follow requests, I consider adding friction to this process to be user-hostile.
The server on nightly build that I use as a "canary in the coalmine" doesn't yet have this "feature" or it isn't turned on for them.
Reading this move in a charitable way, I think they're trying to add the "show boosts" toggle without adding additional complexity to the interface. I can see that toggle being useful. However, again, adding friction to a necessary part of the interface (and, in this case, functionally hiding it) is something I disapprove of.

Ich fürchte, dass der europäischen Politik und den Mainstream-Medien nicht bewusst ist, was die Konsequenzen einer strategischen Niederlage der #usa im #IranKrieg sind.
Ungeachtet der militärischen Unterlegenheit agiert die Militärjunta des #iran geschickt und rücksichtslos. Mit der selektiven Wegelagerung im persischen Golf und den Angriffen auf die Nachbarstaaten hat sie den regionalen Krieg schnell zu einer globalen Krise eskaliert und die eigene Position gestärkt.
Wenn #trump den Krieg beendet, ohne dass der Iran die Kontrolle der #straßevonhormus verliert, werden sich die Anrainerstaaten mit dem iranischen Regime arrangieren und von den USA abwenden. #China wird das Machtvakuum gerne füllen, es hat bereits einen ersten Militärstützpunkt in Dschibuti.
Die chinesische Führung präsentiert sich viel sanfter als die US-amerikanische, im Verborgenen ist sie brutaler. Mir sind die amerikanischen Overlords noch immer lieber als die chinesischen.

Digitaler Wochenrückblick 5. April 2026 – Showdown
Es ist und bleibt so ein wohlig-warmes Gefühl in ein totes Schaf zu treten… die fliegen wieder zum Mond, und? Naja, es funktioniert Outlook nicht, konnten sie aus der Entfernung (remote) lösen. Natürlich wurde der Flight-Director Judd Frieling dazu befragt.
Sagt er auf der täglichen Pressekonferenz entschuldigend zu den Outlook Problemen, dass so etwas nicht selten vorkommen würde. Na, dann kann ja nix mehr passieren. Dennoch hat sich die Marketing-Abteilung von Microsoft das völlig anders vorgestellt – nicht, dass ihre Programme funktionieren würden, darum geht es nicht, aber muss wirklich darüber gesprochen werden?
Auf BlueSky gab es dieses Bildchen von Karl Klammer (der schwachsinniger Windows-Klassiker) dazu und die Antwort sieht so aus (Draufklicken, Fotos haben wir hier nicht …)
Die ganze neuerliche Mondlandung erinnert mich an den Science-Fiction Kult-Klassiker Iron Sky von 2012, vom Helium 3-Abbau auf dem Mond, eine US-Präsidentin die wieder gewählt werden, bis hin zu einem schwarzen Astronauten an Bord. Nachdem alles schiefgeht, entdeckt die Präsidentin, dass sie auch durch einen Krieg Wahlen gewinnen kann. So weit ist das alles nicht weg – nur eine amerikanische Präsidentin ist denn doch zu hoch gegriffen! (Wer den Film sehen will, der besorgt sich nicht die Kinofassung, sondern gleich den „Dictators Cut“, ein cineastischer Hochgenuss!)
Science-Fiction kann sehr realistisch sein, die Wirklichkeit ist oftmals sogar dramatischer. Gestern sprachen alle darüber, wie Instagram/Meta durch Dauerscrollen die jugendlichen Nutzerinnen und Nutzer, vor allem Kinder am Smart-Device halten, bis hin zur Selbstaufgabe und diesem selig-glücklichen leeren Blick am Ende des Tages.
Was macht Meta und wer strahlt lustvoll in die Kamera: Mark Zuckerberg, darüber der Titel im Business Insider „Meta is assembling an elite new AI lab for its recommendations division“
Da wird KI zum Bruder des Teufels!
Aber: wer nur scrollt, kann nicht arbeiten, kann sich also den Ramsch nicht leisten, der da unablässig präsentiert wird. Ob das sinnvoll ist? Wir wissen es einfach nicht, wir glauben …
An den dicken Eiern und die kleinen Überraschungen dazwischen konnten im Morgengrauen viele Kinder heute das Osterfest entdecken. Für die Eltern habe ich auch noch eine Überraschung: Heute ist nicht nur Ostersonntag, sondern es ist auch der 1. Sonntag im Monat, das ist der di.day und steht für Digital Independence Day.
Diesmal haben wir das über Wochen vorbereitet, wer es in den kleinen, überschaubaren Häppchen nicht schlucken wollte, der muss jetzt die ganze Pulle auf einmal nehmen.
Wenn schon Outlook nicht bei der Mondmission funktioniert, müssen wir uns auch nicht damit quälen, besser wir denken drüber nach, wie wir von Outlook oder Google wegkommen, darum ging es am 8. Februar, hier starten!
Am 15. Februar blickten wir auf das Grauen bei einem neuen Mailprogramm.
Am 22. Februar haben wir bei „Der Umstieg“ erfolgreich ein neues Mailkonto eingerichtet.
Am 1. März mit der „Der Loslösung“ würgen wir outlook/hotmail und gmail ab – wir haben eine neue Mailadresse!
Am 8. März folgt die „Der Vollendung“ und alle sind in der Lage alle Mails von Google zu entfernen und an dieser Stelle auch der Tipp für treue Leserinnen und Leser wie sie an den Rabatt für den Extradienst von mail.de kommen.
Am 15. März geht es mit „Weg hier“ darum die Mails bei Mircosoft von Outlook zu befreien. Probleme mit Outlook hat auch unsere Mission zum Mond, also besser jetzt eingreifen.
Am 22. März sammeln wir unter „Der Rest…?“ Adressbuch und Kalender bei Google ein, um
am 29. März mit „No Way Back“ werden die letzten digitalen Spuren bei Microsoft ausgelöscht.
Übrigens, eMails an die Raumstation sind problemlos mit Thunderbird möglich, sofern die Mailadresse bekannt ist und Outlook dort funktioniert, auf der Erde brauchen wir solche Programme nicht.
Insgesamt gehört nicht viel dazu, um von google/outlook/hotmail wegzukommen, es muss der Wille zur Veränderung angestachelt werden.
Natürlich können wir abwarten, einfach sitzen bleiben – so schlimm ist das doch alles nicht. Ganz wie der Frosch, der im heißen Wasser sitzt – bis es kocht und er einfach platzt. Geht auch, ganz schmerzfrei sei das nicht, heißt es.
Noch ein Frohes Osterfest – und lasst mir die Frösche in Ruhe …

Welp, he was wrong about Mastodon fizzling out in two weeks, but the one thing he wasn't wrong about was Mastodon growing stagnant. Mastodon's sat at the same active user counts for a while and it's plateau'd. The platform hasn't seen any significant growth since the 2022 Twitter exodus, and though growth obviously isn't everything, Mastodon remains relatively niche.
Still, funny reading about this dude just having a massive skill-issue with using Mastodon.

Fedibird(Mastodon)の自分のアカウントを、Misskey.ioと隠れ家でリスト追加するのも試した。
「リストに追加したという通知は届かず、サーバーのプロキシアカウント(system.proxy)が代理フォローした場合にフォロー通知が届く」のは同じだった。ただしフォロー通知の前にフォローリクエスト通知が表示され、承認する必要があった（添付画像1～2枚目）。
Fedibirdには「Bot承認制アカウント（Botアカウントからのフォローを手動で承認する）」という設定項目がある（3枚目）。私はこれを有効にしてるので、Botラベルが付いてるプロキシアカウントからのフォローは承認が必要だったのかもしれない。

「Misskeyで他のユーザーをリストに追加したら相手に通知は届くのか」が気になったので、自分のMisskey.ioアカウントと隠れ家（LTLのないMisskeyサーバー）アカウント同士で試してみた。
結論としては、「リストに追加したという通知は届かない。ただし投稿取得のためにサーバーのプロキシアカウントが相手を代理フォローすることがあり、そのフォロー通知は相手に届く」。
添付画像1～2枚目は、ioと隠れ家で自分のアカウント同士をリスト追加した時の通知画面。プロキシアカウントからフォローされたという通知は届いたものの、リスト追加については通知されなかった。
