My family are completely broke for the next week. We barely paid rent & missed our electric by 4 days. My sister gets promoted next week.
We're starving, we hardly eat & don't have a car. We're all incredibly ill, both physically and mentally w/ only 1/5 members of my house capable of work. I'm trying to get disability, but that takes a long time.
My family has been in poverty for years. We cannot even afford to get my Mom to her surgery on Tuesday. My dad has been skipping psych meds to make ends meet sometimes.

LibreOffice resta la scelta più coerente per chi vuole uscire davvero dalla logica proprietaria: è gratuito, open source, compatibile con i formati Microsoft Office/365 ed è sostenuto da The Document Foundation, un’organizzazione non profit. Sul desktop è la proposta più “sovrana” del gruppo, perché lavora in locale e non ti spinge dentro un cloud obbligatorio; sul mobile, però, la situazione è meno lineare e il progetto rimanda all’ecosistema Android/iOS basato su LibreOffice Technology, non a una replica perfetta dell’esperienza desktop.
Appunti: Standard Notes contro Google Keep e Apple Notes
Standard Notes è probabilmente l’alternativa più netta a Google Keep e, per chi gestisce contenuti sensibili, anche ad Apple Notes. Il servizio dichiara cifratura end-to-end, codice sorgente pubblico, disponibilità su web, desktop e mobile, e soprattutto afferma di non raccogliere dati d’uso nelle sue applicazioni. È la differenza che conta: non nasce per trattenerti in un ecosistema, ma per proteggere ciò che scrivi.

Proton Mail resta il nome più forte se il criterio è “privacy come infrastruttura”: Proton è operata da una società svizzera, insiste su software open source, cifratura e protezione dalla sorveglianza, e distribuisce app per mobile e desktop. C’è però un dettaglio pratico da non nascondere: l’app desktop ufficiale Mail, oggi, è accessibile stabilmente con piano a pagamento, mentre gli utenti free hanno una prova limitata.Intelligenza artificiale: Euria e Le Chat contro ChatGPT e Qwen
Euria, sviluppata da Infomaniak, è forse il nome più coerente con il titolo di questo pezzo. Infomaniak la presenta come assistente AI “sovrano”, ospitato in Svizzera, con conformità FADP e GDPR; nelle sue pagine ufficiali aggiunge che documenti e conversazioni restano privati e non vengono usati per addestrare l’intelligenza artificiale. Per chi vuole un’alternativa europea con una narrazione privacy-first molto esplicita, oggi Euria è una delle candidature più forti.
Le Chat di Mistral è invece la proposta europea più credibile sul versante AI generalista. Mistral la offre su web, iOS e Android, e per il mondo enterprise parla anche di deployment su infrastruttura privata e di controllo dei dati. Ma c’è un caveat importante se il filtro è la privacy: la privacy policy di Le Chat prevede che input e output siano conservati finché l’utente non elimina l’account o le conversazioni. È un punto da scrivere chiaramente, perché in un confronto privacy non tutti i chatbot europei sono uguali.
Messaggistica: Delta Chat contro WhatsApp
Delta Chat non è una copia perfetta di WhatsApp, e proprio per questo è interessante. Il progetto si presenta come messenger decentralizzato e sicuro, basato sull’infrastruttura email, disponibile su desktop e mobile; con la serie Version 2 dichiara inoltre cifratura end-to-end sempre attiva di default. Il vantaggio culturale, oltre che tecnico, è evidente: non c’è il lock-in del numero telefonico e non c’è un unico operatore centrale a presidiare tutto l’ecosistema.
Sistema operativo: Linux, con Ufficio Zero, contro Windows e macOS
Se il punto non è solo cambiare app ma cambiare terreno, allora il passaggio più radicale è Linux. In chiave italiana, Ufficio Zero Linux OS è un caso interessante perché si presenta come sistema open source, leggero, attento alla privacy, ospitato su infrastrutture in Italia e pensato anche per chi arriva da Windows, con release che richiamano visivamente Windows 10 e 11. Qui, ovviamente, non ha senso parlare di link iOS, Android, Windows o macOS: non è un’app per quei sistemi, è il sistema da installare al loro posto.

Per chi lavora con documenti riservati, Nextcloud è la risposta europea più seria a Google Drive. Il progetto si presenta come piattaforma open source di collaborazione e file sharing, privata o self-hosted, con promessa esplicita di “no data leaks to third parties” e client ufficiali per desktop e mobile. Currently watching a discussion Matt from @thelinuxcast has uploaded, with him, Nate, Drew and Derek from @distrotube talking (sorry, I don't have #mastodon handles for Drew or Nate).
And strange thing...I come to view them as the guys I am hanging with regularly, my buddies (and we don't know each other at all).
Very nice, warm atmosphere, jokes, experience and wisdom dropped.

In case you missed it, there's an 👁️ eye icon in the top right corner of post threads viewed through Mastodon's web interface.
Clicking the eye to toggle it on or off reveals or hides all the content warnings in that thread. It saves a lot of time as you don't have to open each post one at a time.
Alternatively, you can set your account to automatically show all posts with content warnings.

Digging into #Godot finally. Taking the C# route versus GDScript.
Finding using a local #Gemma4 is surprisingly good for this. It still bungles things here and there, but we get through, and I learn from it's mistakes. 😉
But yeah, I kinda love this engine so far. Sometimes it feels a bit quirky, but not in a way where I feel trapped and overwhelmed trying to fix it.

Тут кто-нибудь использует сетап Home Assistant в режиме HAOS?
Ну, то есть когда накатывается образ от Home Assistant на какую-то железку и она полностью менеджится им.
Из плюсов там поддержка этих их "apps", которые раньше были "add-ons".
Однако я бегло на неё посмотрел и она меня немного пугает.
Во-первых там установка достаточно туповатая - не раскатка через типичный инсталлер как у многих дистрибутиовов, а заливка образа на диск, а он уже потом сам расширяет разделы под доступное пространство.
Во-вторых шелл HASS торчащий прямо без аутентификации для любого кто подшёл к железке - бери тот же Rubber Ducky, втыкай и веселись с чьим-нибудь умнодомом.
В третьих так как оно само себя менеджит - как будто сложнее втащить туда какой-нибудь Nginx/Traefik, который для локальной сети будет отдавать как есть по HTTP, а в интернеты будет отдавать с HTTPS и дополнительной аутентификацией и/или вообще только через какой-нибудь ZeroTier/Tailscale.
Я чего-то не знаю/понимаю или оно в целом на такой режим использования где ни гибкости ни безопасности и рассчитано?
