As usual multithreading starts simple and then becomes a bit of a headache.
I am scanning and parsing roughly 500.000 files for spritesheet information or guessing the spritesheet by analysing the image.
Scanning the file tree takes 2 seconds.
Guessing atlas structure works well with a couple of thousand files but slows down when I do it for the full 500k.
Need to do some refactoring and add better controls for the cache and parsing request system.

Speaking of RFC 9421, which notable fediverse implementations can't handle it yet? Anyone keeping track?
The last time I checked, Lemmy, GoToSocial, Friendica, and the ‘keys to name a few did not handle it. Mastodon didn’t if you included requiring ed25519. But I haven’t checked the code bases or my logs in a month or two, @julian. At that time there wasn’t much progress on peertube/http-signatures or superseriousbusiness/httpsig.
I should probably check again...

I don't suffer from many diseases really, I just avoid #sugar. Eliminating excess sugar helps me stay healthy, at least I believe this. So I just don't know how people with various kinds of blood sugar problems get by. It is far more than 50% of the time a certain drink I like is served "full sugar" even when I ask for no added sugar. About the only drink where my diet is regularly honored is "unsweet ice tea" but even then, I sometimes get a reflexive response that they have sugar packets! #USA

On the flip side, ever more complex curl invocations (here: Accept header plus signature fields plus key file, presumably) suggest use of more specialized CLI tools, such as provided by @fedify, or at least scripts/aliases.

Stany Zjednoczone wydają miliardy dolarów na ochronę swoich granic i zaawansowane systemy cyberbezpieczeństwa. Okazuje się jednak, że cały ten wysiłek można zniweczyć za pomocą popularnej aplikacji dla uczniów i studentów.
Tajne kody do placówek służb granicznych wyciekły, bo ktoś postanowił wkuwać je na pamięć za pomocą publicznych fiszek w serwisie Quizlet.
Serwis Quizlet to popularna platforma edukacyjna, z której na co dzień korzystają miliony uczniów przygotowujących się do sprawdzianów z historii czy słówek z języka angielskiego. Ktoś jednak uznał, że to również doskonałe narzędzie do nauki wewnętrznych procedur amerykańskiego Urzędu Celnego i Ochrony Granic (U.S. Customs and Border Protection).
Jak ujawnił serwis WIRED, w lutym na platformie pojawił się publiczny zestaw fiszek zatytułowany „USBP Review”. Zawierał on wysoce poufne informacje dotyczące bezpieczeństwa placówek CBP w okolicach Kingsville w Teksasie. Zestaw był w pełni publiczny aż do 20 marca – zniknął ledwie pół godziny po tym, jak dziennikarze WIRED skontaktowali się z numerem telefonu powiązanym z kontem twórcy.
Czego można było się dowiedzieć z cyfrowych karteczek? Na przykład na fiszce z pytaniem „Kod do drzwi punktu kontrolnego?” na odwrocie znajdowała się dokładna, czterocyfrowa kombinacja. W ten sam sposób rozpisano kody do konkretnych bram oraz wież strażniczych. Inne fiszki zawierały szczegółowe opisy wewnętrznych systemów, takich jak „E3 BEST”, służącego do sprawdzania osób i pojazdów w bazach danych organów ścigania.
Rzecznik CBP potwierdził jedynie, że incydent jest obecnie badany przez Biuro Odpowiedzialności Zawodowej. Cała sprawa zbiega się w czasie ze znacznym wzrostem zatrudnienia w amerykańskich służbach granicznych – agencja kusi nowych rekrutów premiami sięgającymi 60 tysięcy dolarów. Jak widać, szybkie tempo rekrutacji może wiązać się z pewnymi brakami w podstawowym szkoleniu z zakresu bezpieczeństwa informacji. Nauka to potęgi klucz, ale czasami lepiej trzymać swoje notatki pod kluczem.

Man, you leave so much money on the table by not doing compilations of your videos sometimes, same views but bigger RPM and revenue works especially well for evergreen channels.
So I like to keep some stable ones in my portfolio
- 7 uploads per month
- 99% automated with minimal ideation
- good rpm and profit margin
downsides: not explosively scalable
so compilations help maximize revenue

But something that isn't listed anywhere, is how when you reach 10k users, all of the updates you make have to be manually reviewed by the #Mozilla #addon team.
Usually, I'd be fine with this, but how long do you think it took for an update that was just approved today?
Well, it took a little bit over 3 weeks for this one! With no position in queue whatsoever in the developer dashboard. It's quite a long timeframe, if there's a critical bug for example you need to be able to update fast!
Apparently itns because there's a huge amount of malicious vibe-coded #AI submissions. I wonder what could be done to improve the review times? (Because ranting is useless unless you have a solution in mind!)
Maybe increase team size? But that will cost lots of money. Use an AI to filter malicious submissions? But then you'd have people tricking it, and false positives. I don't really see a way...

If you are playing #VRChat and considering getting the "VRCVideoCacher" to "fix" problems with running into #YouTube bot detection and being unable to watch videos, you should know a few things.
The way "VRCVideoCacher" works is by a method called "session hijacking". It will quite literally do the same thing which malware does and steal your YouTube sessions cookies.
Session cookies might be compared to a wristband you may get at a club or a concert. It identifies you as somebody who is allowed to "get back in", without having to do the whole initial process of buying a ticket or have your name checked against a list on invited guests all over again.
"VRCVideoCacher" basically makes a copy of that digital wristband (your session cookies) to impersonate you towards YouTube, so it looks like you are downloading the videos from your own YouTube account.
And while they claim that this is the only thing they do with it, the software theoretically gets full access to your YouTube account.
Just saying.
