Iran: VS moet kiezen tussen wapenstilstand of oorlog via Israël

De Verenigde Staten moeten kiezen tussen een staakt-het-vuren of een voortzetting van de oorlog via Israël, schrijft de Iraanse buitenlandminister Abbas Araghchi op X over de Israëlische aanvallen op Libanon. 'Het kan niet allebei hebben.'

Hij plaatst daarbij een screenshot van een post op X van de Pakistaanse premier Shehbaz Sharif, waarin staat dat de wapenstilstand ook voor Libanon geldt. Zowel Israël als de VS hebben later ontkend dat dit het geval is.

'De wereld ziet de bloedbaden in Libanon. De bal ligt nu bij de VS, en de wereld kijkt toe of het land zijn afspraken na zal komen,' aldus Araghchi.

De Iraanse parlementsvoorzitter Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf schrijft op X dat de VS tot nu toe drie van de tien clausules van het 'Iraanse tienpuntenplan' heeft geschonden. Volgens hem zijn dat de schending van het staakt-het-vuren in Libanon, het binnendringen van een drone in het Iraanse luchtruim en het ontnemen van Irans recht op verrijking van uranium. "In zo'n situatie zijn een bilaterale wapenstilstand of onderhandelingen onredelijk."
