#1 Resident Evil: Extinction Reaction/Review Videos – I saw Resident Evil: Extinction in the local cinema in 2007. By the time the movie ended, it was clear to me that the Resident Evil live-action movie series was all about showcasing Milla Jovovich as the action star and the characters from the games were just tokens to add RE relevance (Ali Larter as Claire Redfield in the 2007 film) since the films were not serious adaptations of the video games’ stories. RE: Extinction’s most notable attraction is its Mad Max-inspired wasteland setting and there were some moviegoers who enjoy the movie as a thrill ride. #2 Resident Evil: Code Veronica Retrospective – I can hardly believe it has been more over 25 years since Resident Evil: Code Veronica was first released on the Sega Dreamcast. At the time of its release, it was clearly the next-generation Resident Evil experience and the first major game (or mainline game) of its series to have fully polygonal environments for players to explore. #4 Ranting For Vengeance Slams Upcoming Supergirl – Supergirl, the upcoming movie of James Gunn’s DCU, was slammed by Ranting for Vengeance. There was a new trailer of the movie released and it did not captivate me nor interest me. It did not help that the Supergirl actress Milly Alcock actually slammed the fans as there was backlash against the said new trailer. Going back to the new Supergirl trailer, Ranting for Vengeance explains that the modern cinematic versions of the title character and Lobo do not resemble their literary counterparts. Israel Eliminates Lebanese Resistance Brigade Commander And Also Hezbollah Chief’s Secretary
As the fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran hangs on, Israel struck the terrorists in Lebanon successfully eliminating the commander of the Lebanese Resistance Brigade as well as the secretary of the chief of terrorist group Hezbollah, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from The Jerusalem Post’s news report. Some parts in boldface…
The IDF said Thursday killed Maher Qassem Hamdan, the Commander of the Lebanese Resistance Brigades terrorist organization in the Chebaa area in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, in addition to seven others fleeing the area.
Hamdan was responsible for terrorist recruitment, weapons supply, and funding the Lebanese Resistance Brigades in Chebaa, according to the IDF, which added that the organization is funded by the Hezbollah terror organization and is connected to it directly.
The IDF also said Thursday that it killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, a close aide to Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, in a strike in Beirut on Wednesday, as part of a broader wave of attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon.
Harshi was Qassem’s personal secretary and nephew, who also served as a senior advisor and played a central role in managing and securing the Hezbollah leader’s office.
The IDF added that overnight strikes targeted two key crossings used by Hezbollah operatives to move between areas north and south of the Litani River and transfer weapons. Around 10 weapons storage sites, launchers, and command centers in southern Lebanon were struck as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the group’s military capabilities, the IDF said.
Separately, IDF troops from the 401st Brigade located a shaft leading to a subterranean site from which a terrorist emerged and was killed in close-quarters combat earlier this week. Inside, troops discovered a cache of weapons, including explosives, rockets, RPG launchers, grenades, and additional equipment, according to the military.
Moreover, the IDF said later Thursday that it carried out a strike in the Sidon area, killing Maher Qassem Hamdan, commander of the Lebanese Brigades in the Shebaa region, along with eight additional operatives who were attempting to flee the area.
Meanwhile, troops from the 215th Fire Brigade killed in recent days over 70 Hezbollah terrorists, including a cell preparing mortar fire against Israeli forces, the IDF said.
Earlier on Thursday, the IDF published footage of Paratroopers Brigade troops operating under the 98th Division during ground operations in southern Lebanon over the past week, targeting dozens of Hezbollah operatives and uncovering hidden weapons.
The military said troops moved into additional areas as part of efforts to establish operational control and reinforce Israel’s forward defensive line along the northern border. The operations were aimed at removing threats to Israeli civilians in the north while degrading Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the area, according to the military.
Troops located and seized a range of weapons, the IDF said, including firearms, magazines, and explosive devices that had been concealed, often within civilian areas, for use against IDF troops. The military added that the weapons caches were embedded within operational zones used by Hezbollah.
The Paratroopers Brigade has now established operational control over key sectors in southern Lebanon, according to the IDF, and continues to carry out strikes on what it described as terrorist infrastructure.
IDF activity in Lebanon aimed at reducing threats to frontline communities – The activity marks a continued expansion of Israeli ground maneuvers in Lebanon, as the military seeks to push Hezbollah forces further from the border and reduce immediate threats to northern communities.
The IDF released initial footage and images from the operations, showing troops conducting searches, locating weapons, and operating in built-up and rural terrain across southern Lebanon.

Cebu Taxi Driver Ordered By LTFRB To Surrender His License For Overcharging K-pop Star
For some time now, the Philippines has been underperforming in the race of attracting foreign tourists and its 2025 numbers have been disappointing. Recently, Philippine tourism suffered another blackeye as a taxi driver in Cebu overcharged a very prominent entertainer from South Korea – K-pop star Soobin – and already the details of the incident spread like wildfire on social media and in foreign news, according to a news article by VnExpress. The said taxi driver has been suspended for 30-days and was ordered by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to surrender his driver’s license.

Philippine authorities have taken action against a taxi driver who overcharged Soobin, a member of the K-pop group Tomorrow X Together, during a trip to Cebu.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, a video posted April 1 on the group’s official YouTube channel, titled “Soobin’s Super Fun and Super Tiring Vacation,” shows the singer and his friend navigating the incident. In the footage, Soobin and the friend arrive at the airport and attempt to take a taxi to their accommodation.
“I checked beforehand, it should be about 300 pesos (US$17),” Soobin says in the video, as quoted by Chosun Biz. “If they charge more than 300 pesos, let’s act angry once.”
However, a taxi driver subsequently approaches them and initially quotes the pair 500 pesos. After failing to negotiate, Soobin gets into the taxi, only for the driver to suddenly demand 1,000 pesos, claiming it was a “car with expensive gas.”
Soobin immediately confronts the driver, saying, “Did you hear that? I’m going to report you,” while documenting the attempted overcharge.
His friend later remarks, “Still, it’s better that we arrived safely. We’re so tired,” and Soobin ultimately pays the originally agreed 500 pesos.
Following the broadcast, the Philippines’ Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ordered the driver to surrender his license plate and driver’s license and imposed a 30-day suspension.
“The taxi driver excessively charged the fare and deliberately did not use the meter during the ride,” the board said, as quoted by the South China Morning Post. “This is a serious offense that tarnished our country’s honor in the international community.”
Philippine National Police Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. also ordered a nationwide crackdown on taxi drivers accused of overcharging passengers. Authorities have since been deployed to monitor transportation hubs, particularly airports.

mal eine ehrliche Frage: Ist es inzwischen normal geworden, dass man sich Antworten für Bewerbungsgespräche über #ChatGPT zusammenstellt – und sich dann auch noch sagen lässt, die eigene Wortwahl sei zu langatmig, verschachtelt oder unstrukturiert?
Ich finde, jede*r sollte doch seine eigenen Worte finden können, anstatt wie aus der Konserve zu sprechen. Authentizität geht dabei schnell verloren.
Mich würde wirklich interessieren: Macht das #HR auf der anderen Seite auch so? Also genauso strikt nach Leitfäden und Vorgaben – oder inzwischen sogar danach, was irgendwelche #Datenkraken vorgeben?
Wo bleibt dabei die menschliche Seite? Die Ehrlichkeit?
Gefühlt war es ja schon immer so, als müsste man sich stark verbiegen, um genommen zu werden – aber irgendwie kommt es mir heute noch extremer vor als früher.

Has someone wrote a good article about the relative security burdens of thin and thick runtimes? I've always been on the side of thick runtimes (think Lisp) but seeing regular and persistent security alerts for #Python functions no applications in my environment use because they happens to be part of the standard library makes me question that. There's a cost to determining that an alert is irrelevant! #infosec

To know how to git is to know pain. I wouldn't describe myself as a master of git. Never done the bisect and rebase onto stuff. Because git is my daily driver on the command line I am always interested to learn how to use it better.

I'm aware that many fedizens are fundamentally opposed to AI. I appreciate and share your concerns about the technology. Having said that, I confess that I use AI in my consulting work and find it helpful for some tasks. I recently switched from #ChatGPT Plus to #Claude Pro. The cost is the same, but Claude seems to handle complex jobs more skillfully and accurately. Also, as far as I can tell, #Anthropic is a more ethical option than its competitors.

DALL·E 3 is the AI image generation model used by #ChatGPT. I’ve tried different models, and in my opinion, this is the most powerful and realistic engine. However, in the wrong hands, it can be used improperly to spread #deepfake content over the internet.
This is why it’s important to keep your privacy (especially for children) under control on social media.

Sag mal ist das normal, dass man sich heutzutage via #ChatGPT Antworten für Bewerbungsgesprächen entwirft und sich von dem Drecksding auch noch sagen lässt, die eigene Wortwahl wäre langatmig, verschachtelt und hollprig sowie unstrukturiert?
Ich denke, jeder sollte doch auch eigene Worte finden können.
Und nicht jede*r wie aus der Konserve gesprochen reden.
Macht das #HR auf der anderen Seite dies auch so - eiskalt und strickt, wie ein Lehrplan oder schlimmer, die #Datenkraken es sagen?
Wo bleibt die menschliche Seite? Die eigene Ehrlichkeit?
Ich meint, galt ja schon immer so, als müsste man seine Seele an den Teufel verkaufen, damit man genommen wird.
Zumindest war das vor 2000 nicht so.
Man ich bin zu alt für diesen Scheiß.
Frage für meine bessere Hälfte und ggf. später auch für mich.

Mehr als drei Stunden – so viel Zeit verbrachte ein Mensch in Deutschland im Jahr 2018 täglich im Internet. Mittlerweile dürfte diese Zeit deutlich angestiegen sein. Wir sind von morgens bis abends online – was wir auf Instagram, YouTube oder auch auf Newsportalen konsumieren, beeinflusst unsere Meinung und Weltsicht. Dabei wissen wir oft nicht, warum wir bestimmte Inhalte sehen und auf andere gar nicht erst zugreifen können.
Wie also können wir sachliche Information von gezielter Einflussnahme unterscheiden? Wer will uns beeinflussen – und warum? Wie funktionieren Algorithmen und Filterblasen? Und wem nutzen Clickbaiting und das Sammeln unserer Profildaten? Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und die Bundeskunsthalle stellen sich mit hochkarätigen Gästen am 26. Oktober um 19 Uhr in der Bundeskunsthalle deshalb die Frage:
