"Colonel Dr. Talal Hussein Talal Dhiab, commander of the military hospital at Habaniya military base in Iraq’s Anbar province, feared the worst when he heard the sound of a low flying plane overhead at 5 a.m. on March 25. The U.S. A10 attack plane, which likely flew out of an American base in neighboring Jordan, ascended and descended repeatedly, Talal told Drop Site News.
Talal hurriedly woke up other medical officers, alerting them to go to the emergency room and prepare to receive new wounded.
Only the day before, the U.S. military had attacked a building at the base housing the province’s command for the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), an Iraqi state security force reporting to the prime minister. He said 1st Lt. Abdallah al Zobai, also a doctor, was exhausted from treating the previous day’s wounded, so he let him sleep in the officer’s housing.
After circling the base, at about 9 a.m. the A10 attacked the same PMF building. Shrapnel from the explosion wounded Iraqi army soldiers nearby. Talal and his men rushed over to help the wounded, and the plane returned and struck the army officer’s housing, gravely wounding Zobai.
Medical staff climbed over debris searching for wounded, Talal said. As the first responders arrived, the A10 attacked them, firing its 30-mm Gatling-style rotary canon—typically armed with a mix of armor-piercing and high explosive incendiary rounds, fired at a rate of 4,000 rounds per minute—tearing bodies apart, cutting off heads and limbs. Talal himself was wounded and lost consciousness, bleeding heavily. Two other officers with him were badly wounded. The U.S. attacked the Habaniya base five times that day, killing seven Iraqi soldiers and officers and wounding 23. Most of the casualties were among the responders."

"Big news publishers are in a strange place when it comes to X right now. Most are still posting to it (with notable exceptions like NPR and The Guardian), and they still have millions of followers. But with news business models increasingly revolving around subscriptions, publishers are focusing most of their social media efforts on sending people to their own sites. They may not see much incentive to “evolve their posting style” as Bier suggests.
I wondered, though: Is The New York Times unusual among big publishers in the “link plus sentence” tweet format? Are any major publishers moving beyond that format and seeing more engagement on X as they link less?
I used Claude to help me scrape the 200 most recent tweets from 18 large publishers’ X accounts and track the engagement (likes + comments + retweets) on each. Six of those publishers have paywalls: Bloomberg, CNN, Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. Nine don’t: Al Jazeera English, AP, BBC1, Breitbart News, CBS News, Daily Wire, Fox News, NBC News, and Reuters. The last three accounts I looked at — Leading Report, unusual_whales, and Globe Eye News — are not news publishers, but aggregate breaking news in tweets without links. (Here, for example, is an example of a Leading Report tweet: “BREAKING: Iran has halted direct talks with the US, per WSJ.” They’re sometimes referred to as engagement-maxing accounts.
These charts make it pretty clear that links in tweets hurt engagement. The connection was so apparent in my analysis that a graph including all 18 publishers is almost unreadable: The traditional, link-loving publishers are clustered in the bottom left corner (lots of links, little engagement) in a nearly indistinguishable mass of bubbles, no matter how large their followings are."

Awkwardly, though, the US government attempted to declare Anthropic a supply chain risk after it refused to modify its contract with the Pentagon to permit mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons. A judge has blocked that designation from taking effect while the case is litigated.
Anthropic told me that before launching Project Glasswing, it briefed senior US government officials about Mythos’ capabilities, both offensive and defensive. That includes the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Center for AI Standards and Innovation, which works with the industry to test new models and evaluate them for security risks.
The company told me it has signaled to the government that it is available to help the government with evaluating Mythos. But it’s not clear the government is taking Anthropic up on the offer.
A functioning government would take a strong interest in what Anthropic is up to here, if only out of self-preservation. We simply don’t know whether Project Glasswing will be enough to protect critical systems from being breached — and for how long."

Stealer Campaign Impacting SLTT macOS Users
MacSync Stealer is a macOS infostealer operating as Malware-as-a-Service (MaaS), distributed through SEO poisoning and fake ClickFix CAPTCHAs. The campaign has evolved through three iterations since November 2025, shifting from fake download sites to malicious ChatGPT conversations and finally to sophisticated shell-based loaders with dynamic AppleScript payloads. Threat actors use Google-sponsored search results to redirect victims to fake CAPTCHA pages that trick users into executing malicious terminal commands. The stealer targets browser credentials, cryptocurrency wallets, SSH keys, cloud provider credentials, and Keychain data. A critical capability includes trojanizing Ledger hardware wallet applications to capture seed phrases. The February 2026 campaign generated over 18,000 clicks in three days, with Russian-language comments suggesting operators work within a Russian-speaking ecosystem. The malware employs API key-gated C2 infrastructure and in-memory execution for evasion.
