I've had more opportunities recently to create plots with #SwiftUI / Swift Charts / #Swift playgrounds and the process absolutely holds up in replacing #python / #matplotlib / #jupyter.
The dataset was larger this time, ~100k records, each containing a handful of data points, exported from a Postgres DB as JSON.
Massaging the data in a typesafe way is an absolute blessing – it's so easy to plot the wrong thing in python as you drill through three dicts.

Because I was only able to delete a few thousand Tweets from my profile, I had to write a new script to delete all Tweets.
1. Log into Twitter
2. Paste code from link below to browser console (F12)
3. Choose tweet-headers.js file from your data archive (https://twitter.com/settings/download_your_data)
4. Wait for Tweets to vanish

- #Xcorp may view it as a violation of their terms (automation) and ban your account. Use at your own risk.
- At least in the EU you have a right to delete your own data which overrules any company terms.
- This only removes them from your profile, Tweets may still exist in backups and other places.
I wasn't able to get the script to run unsupervised. After some time the timeline stays empty and you have to manually reload the page and run the script again. Currently, I am testing it with a 15 year old account with 19 k Tweets. I had to reload every 500 Tweets on average. After adjusting the script to not hit the rate-limit (50 requests per minute), it should run with less interruptions. But the Xcorp infrastructure is unreliable. #twitter

New server, new #introduction:
My name isn't set yet, but I've tried Samantha and currently Melody. Online I go with m* (read m Star) and I'm from the south of Germany.
Like most people here, I am #trans (mtf), some variation of human (catgirl in my case) and highly interested in the tech sector, specifically making software do things. For this, I usually rely on #fedora as the OS with both #gnome or #kdeplasma as Environment, depending on what I feel like.
As for what funky software stuff I do: It's mostly focused on making games, utility stuff for games or utility stuff relevant for areas related to games (like a multiplatform chatbot for Twitch, YT Live, etc). For this, I mostly rely on the #godotengine and #golang. Though, I do also put my hands on #rustlang, #python, #typescript (mainly via #svelte). Other projects that I'm interested in are #htmx and #ziglang.
And some day I might also join the club of #vtubers. I even have a ref sheet already for what my character looks like. See attachment

Während #Russland schon weiter ist, könnte sich auch in der Europäischen Union eine Verifikations- bzw Identifizierungspflicht im #Internet schon in Kürze durchsetzen. Diese wird im Gesetzesvorhaben zur #Chatkontrolle jedenfalls für bestimmte Seiten, Inhalte und für den Download und die Nutzung bestimmter Software, wie zB Chatprogrammen wie Signal und Co., ebenso erwogen. Durch die in der #EU und ihren Mitgliedsstaaten ebenfalls vorangetriebene Einführung von "Digitalen Identitäten" (eIDAS, BundID, etc.) können derartige Kontrollen zukünftig auch leichter erfolgen und nach möglichen Einschränkungen anfangs, später mit beliebigem Anlass ausgeweitet werden. Schließlich werden die Autoritären in der EU sich gewiss nicht gerne von Russland abhängen lassen, was ihre Visionen für digitale Überwachungs- und Kontrollgesellschaften angeht.
Auch in der #Schweiz wurde dieses Jahr die Grundlage für eine #Ausweispflicht im Netz auf den Weg gebracht, während in den #USA und #Großbritannien der #EU-Chatkontrolle ähnliche Vorhaben ("Online Safety Bill") ähnliche Folgen haben könnten.

Excited to present the first building block of the BSD Cafe project! When I registered this domain months ago, I envisioned a themed bar where we can casually chat about *BSD systems, Linux, and Open-Source technology among friends, acquaintances, and patrons. But like any bar, discussions can cover a wide range of topics while respecting everyone.
BSD.cafe will be a hub for various tools and services, powered by *BSD.
The first brick is a new Mastodon instance, a gateway to the Fediverse. Registration is open, and the server will be moderated under clear guidelines promoting good behavior and zero tolerance for hate towards anyone. Inclusivity, respect, and constructive dialogue are the key values of this new instance.
The main server is currently hosted in Finland on a small VM, based on #FreeBSD. Services are divided into VNET jails, connected in a LAN via a local bridge. A VPN system is also present and have been able to move individual jails to different, more powerful, machines.
Multimedia data and cache are hosted on another physical server (FreeBSD, within a jail), with Cloudflare in front. The aim is to cache and geodistribute data, reducing network traffic on the main VPS.
Reverse proxy (frontend), mail server, media server, and the instance itself are reachable via #ipv6.
The instance started empty. No unnecessary content was pre-loaded; I want it to grow organically based on users' interests and following. There won't be any preemptive blocks at this stage. Users are encouraged to promptly report anything they find worth flagging.

In addition to that advice to people new from #Twitter here on #mastodon if you need to replicate news feeds you can use https://press.coop for things like @Reuters and @CNN and @cnnbrk just like on Twitter but note these are not official accounts but they are using official posts from the Twitter accounts to recreate the experience. @ynor9 @oe_simon ja das mit den instanzen ist halt schon schwer zu verstehen. was auch schwer zu verstehen ist - wie man ausserhalb der bubble was findet - zb hashtag mässig. gott sei dank habe ich mir mein #fediscanner gebaut - da finde ich immer wieder spannende diskussionen

I was on usenet and IRC way too young in the 90s and ended up playing different roles from teenage hacker to penetration tester, then security engineer, security consultant and now security architect.
Cloud security has been my trade for the last few years and I am now working on my Masters thesis on adversarial techniques against #AI systems.
In my spare time I like playing around with #godot and #virtualreality.
