The old internet is dying. What’s next?
image via qz.comEveryone knows traditional search is dying. No one quite knows what comes next. But the rise of AI search comes with a brutal cost for traditional websites. According to the same Pew research, searches with AI Overviews result in dramatically fewer clicks to other websites. When Google shows an AI summary, users click through to other sites just 8% of the time, compared to 15% for searches without AI answers, which represents a nearly 50% drop. Even worse, only 1% of AI Overviews generate clicks to the sources they cite. What's emerging from the chaos is a discipline marketers are calling GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) or AIO (Artificial Intelligence Optimization), essentially SEO for the AI era. But unlike traditional search optimization, which followed somewhat predictable patterns, AI optimization feels more like reading tea leaves.

@arubis I use Phanpy.social currently; it loads the last 12 hours of toots and lets me sort by Likes, as well as filter out Boosts, and followed hashtags. An algorithm can be user designed.
#Bluesky has a good system as well; there are many user designed algorithms that anyone can subscribe to.
Anything is better than simply dumping any spam with a hashtag into my Home feed, or everything that some rando posts.

The best #music experience we ever had was a 1st gen #AppleTV with an #iPod to control it. It worked great!
Now we have another hi-fi system with an audio #chromecast. #Jellyfin & #emby were absolute dogs on this Raspberry Pi 3B+ with 1 GB RAM, swapping.
Finally, I installed today #Navidrome. Much faster than Jellyfin, and the whole OS+server uses now 200 MB of RAM only.
I only had to buy #Symfonium to cast with it, because the #foss apps were just terrible.
