sometimes it can be hard to find the right server! don't be afraid to shop around a bit and try out making accounts on different ones to help narrow down which you'd like to use the most! it's more upfront effort than corpo social media but the payoff is massive :3

i recommend signing up on a smaller approval-based instance btw! so not one that leaves the door wide open for anyone to make an account but rather one that vets new signups based on asking for a sentence or two about why you wanna join when you create an account

the moderators of these instances tend to be paying closer attention than the mods of huge open signup servers

Hackers hijacked the update system for the Smart Slider 3 Pro plugin for WordPress and Joomla, and pushed a malicious version with multiple backdoors.

Only the Pro version 3.5.1.35 of the plugin is affected and recommends switching immediately to the latest version, currently 3.5.1.36, or 3.5.1.34 and earlier.

Aside from that, there's probably a lot of good info in resources that aren't specific to Python. Some of the things you're asking about carry over well between different languages.

Has anyone here moved a blog that uses the #WordPressActivityPub plugin to a new domain?

I'm familiar with the Migrating WordPress steps, HTTP redirects, and ActivityPub migration (which it looks like is only supported on the incoming side ATM). What I want to know is:

Is there anything special needed to make sure the plugin's federation config gets updated to the new domain? Or is it better to just wipe the ActivityPub settings on the new site and set it up completely fresh?

I have a weekend project ahead of me.

i fucking love the fediverse. i live and breathe this place. i found it at a critical point in my life so many years ago and it made me the person i am today. and saved my life, and enabled me to escape my abusive family, and let me build a beautiful wonderful amazing life for myself here in seattle. and it continues to help me survive constantly. and for all that i am so eternally grateful. i hope one day i win the lottery or something and can finally give back to mutual aid on here like i've always dreamed of

fedi was a critical piece of my gender journey. on early era mastodon we always used to joke that coming here turned people trans, because it was true. there's so many trans people here just living their lives and it's such amazing and necessary representation. it gave me exactly what i needed at precisely the right time

i owe everything i am and have to this place

Il Tempo: Fiano verso l'addio al Pd: "Impossibile rimanere in un Partito così"

"È veramente difficile se non impossibile rimanere in un Partito così". Con queste parole l'ex parlamentare dem Emanuele Fiano si dirge verso l'addio al Pd, dopo aver appreso che la sezione di Milano ha chiesto una nuova sospensione del gemellaggio cittadino con Tel Aviv. Lo scrive in un post su Facebook: "Bravi complimenti vi siete messi il cuore in pace così. [...] Voi interrompete il legame con tutta Tel Aviv, anche quella che lavora senza tregua per la pace e contro la guerra da sempre. È un'idea geniale, di alta politica, utilissima alla pace".
Fiano considera la scelta "un classico della semplificazione manichea" per cui da una parte sta solo il male, dall'altra il bene. "Quando ho cominciato a frequentare il Pci milanese e poi il Pds - prosegue - si organizzavano incontri con la sinistra israeliana e quella palestinese e addirittura viaggi in Israele e Palestina per capire, per conoscere, per studiare (parola ormai desueta) e per farsi protagonisti del dialogo. Mai visto niente del genere nel Partito di oggi".
La sferzata arriva alla fine del post: "Come mai non chiedete l'interruzione del gemellaggio con Chicago negli USA, visto il comportamento di Trump? E come mai non chiedete di cancellare il gemellaggio con San Pietroburgo visto il comportamento di Putin?".
Il Pd perde così un veterano del Partito e palesa sempre più una scelta di campo che strizza l'occhio al mondo propal.

It is truly difficult, if not impossible, to remain in a party like this. With these words, former Democratic parliamentarian Emanuele Fiano heads towards his farewell to the PD, after learning that the Milan section has requested a new suspension of the city twinning with Tel Aviv. He writes this in a Facebook post: “Well done, congratulations, you’ve found peace of mind. […] You cut off ties with all of Tel Aviv, even the one that has always worked tirelessly for peace and against war. It’s a brilliant idea, of high politics, extremely useful for peace.”

Fiano considers the choice “a classic of Manichean simplification” whereby on one side there is only evil and on the other there is good. “When I started attending the Milanese PCI and then the PDS, meetings were held with Israeli and Palestinian left-wing groups, and even trips to Israel and Palestine were taken to understand, to get to know, to study (a word now obsolete) and to be protagonists of dialogue. I’ve never seen anything like that in today’s Party.”

The blow comes at the end of the post: “Why don’t you ask for the suspension of the twinning with Chicago in the USA, given Trump’s behavior? And why don’t you ask for the cancellation of the twinning with St. Petersburg, given Putin’s behavior?”

The PD thus loses a veteran of the party and increasingly reveals a choice of side that looks towards the pro-Western world.

Сохранил в папке где-то на компьютере? В заметках телефона? В рабочем чате или личных сообщениях? Если не нашел — идея ушла. Или осталась, но найти её — отдельный квест и потеря времени, которое хотелось бы потратить с пользой, а не на поиски. Со мной так происходило постоянно. Статьи и доклады по учёбе, отчёты по работе, технические заметки по разрабатываемому ПО, ссылки на полезные ресурсы, голосовые идеи по дороге на работу, полезные фото — всё в разных местах, без структуры, без связей. Изначально я пытался найти для себя идеальный инструмент. Notion, Obsidian, Evernote — ни один не решал мою задачу в комплексе: быстро сохранить мысль, не потерять её, а потом легко найти и связать с другими. Поэтому я написал свою систему. Статья — не «продажа курса» и не «уникальный продукт». Это описание того, как я решал свои задачи, какие решения принимал и что из этого вышло.
