Adolf Hitler took about 24 months to complete what is termed "gleichschaltung", a process of "synchronizing all state and economy functions" under authoritarian rule .... although the German constitution remained nominally in effect the whole time.
All state institutions and big corporates are structurally vulnerable to "gleichschaltung" orders because they are founded in hierarchy. Authoritarians first target their own institutions and courts to bring everyone in line.

Update on the stuck bobbin shuttle. Just before taking the whole apparatus apart we gave the hand crank another turn with force. That was enough to unblock the shuttle to grab and pull out the stuck thread. All in one piece.
We also configured the upper and lower tension and go now shopping for the right oil to service the rest of the machine.

My Paypal account was connected to an American phone number - couldn't access it anymore moving back to Berlin. Tried to call their helpline numerous times, endless automated voice loops trying to get rid of me, until I got a human who told me to send proof that my new phone number belongs to me to their European desk. Did it and got a mail back asking me - you guessed it - to call their helpline. Asked them to delete my account - which they did. Its a sucky company anyway.
