Mainstream, das ist mein Resignativ diese Woche. Es zählt nur, was alle haben, ob der Qualität gibt es keine Diskussionen, die ist vorgegeben, muss nicht unbedingt optimal sein. So konnte Microsoft mit Künstlicher Intelligenz und den Clouddiensten die Erwartungen der Analysten (denen geht es ums Geld, weniger um Qualität) deutlich übertreffen. Im letzten Quartal ging es nochmal steil bergauf, im verstrichenen Finanzjahr von Microsoft, das ging am 30. Juni 2025 zu Ende, waren es 100 Millarden US-Dollar Nettogewinn. Und: der Oktober mit dem Zwangsende von Windows 10 steht noch bevor! Das wird ein Fest!

Geglänzt hat Microsoft immer wieder vor allem mit eklatanten Sicherheitslücken, zuletzt ein Riesenloch in Sharepoint, sie haben es nur scheibchenweise rausgelassen, wie krachend diese Lücke locker ausgenutzt werden konnte. Selbst die Tagesschau titelte: „Microsoft-Sicherheitslücke trifft deutsche Firmen“

Besser einen ganz neuen Rechner anschaffen, mit Windows 11, der muss sicher sein, ganz sicher. Microsoft hat viel getan, um sich nicht nur der Altlasten zu entledigen, es reicht nicht, die wollen die alten Rechner – sollten sie noch Windows 11 können – auch töten.

Das liest sich auf den ersten Blick ganz ganz harmlos. Es muss das UEFI-Secure-Boot-Zertifikat getauscht werden, das läuft im Juni 2026 ab.

Kein Problem, sagt Microsoft, verschweigt, dass sie es noch niemals gemacht haben. Jetzt gibt es diese kleine rebellierende Randgruppe, die vor ihrem Rechner sitzen, sich sicher fühlen, weil sie Linux drauf haben, das hat mit mir ja nix zu tun, denken die.

So ist es nicht, nur Microsoft bestimmt, welches Betriebssystem überhaupt starten darf. Bevor überhaupt Dein Blechtrottel sagt, was es starten will, sieht Microsoft für Dich nach, ob das genehm ist, der Sicherheit wegen. Nennt sich seit ein paar Jahren schon „Secure-Boot“, über die Zertifikate wird das gesteuert und es gibt eine Datenbank dazu, in der genau vermerkt ist, wer darf und wer nicht darf. Nur leider wächst diese Datenbank über die Jahre und passt nicht mehr in die vom Hersteller der Mainboards vorgesehenen Fächer, es fehlt einfach Speicherplatz. Wer ein Linux von Microsoft Gnaden startet, kann nur hoffen, dass einmal Microsoft keine Fehler macht und zum anderen der Mainboardhersteller genügend Freiraum zur Verfügung gestellt hat.

Eine Lösung: einfach dieses Secure-Boot abschalten, dann ist zwar Windows tot (und bedauerlicherweise muss auch das Linux neu installiert werden), das sollte kein Hinderungsgrund sein. Übrigens: Apple-Geräte sind völlig frei von dieser Microsoft-Sicherheitsakrobatik. Noch ein Pluspunkt für Apple: es lässt sich auf dem Mac klaglos Linux installieren. Einziger Nachteil für die trüben Tassen, die auf dem Mac Windows installiert haben, die sind auch betroffen, selbst Schuld.

Und warum hat Microsoft diese Möglichkeiten? Weil sie es können, die fragen nicht, Firmen, Behörden und Endkunden sind auf diesen Monopolisten angewiesen – Qualität spielt keine Rolle, zahlen müssen wir alle, was Anleger und Analysten freut.

Und was hindert Normal-Otto einfach Linux draufzuspielen? Keine Ahnung? Zu kompliziert? Stimmt, bei Aldi und dem PC-Händler Deines Vertrauens gibt es nur neue Rechner mit Windows 11. Und: gelingt es doch (was ohne Probleme geht), dann, dann sieht es ganz anders aus, das ist schrecklich. Spätestens in der Situation, geht es zurück zu Windows, egal wie. Veränderungen schrecken ab, außer wenn Microsoft was verändert, dann müssen wir natürlich dazu lernen – zumindest wie das, was die uns andrehen, wollen abgeschaltet werden kann (bis zum nächsten Update).

Wir sind leidensfähig, aber eben nicht lernfähig. Das, und nur das ist er Erfolg von Microsoft.

Wer jetzt hilflos über Veränderung nachdenkt, auf sich allein gestellt in den Weiten des kriminellen Internets, keine Wolke der Errettung am Himmel sieht, der hat jetzt zwei Möglichkeiten: jammern und weitermachen wie zuvor, oder den Blick mal nach links und rechts richten. Beginnen wir in kleinen Schritten, bei den Russen. Die haben Erdöl, Gas und Kohle und verkaufen es. Das könnten wir auch tun, wir haben kein Erdöl, Gas oder Kohle in unbegrenzten Mengen, sondern den Stoff, aus dem Träume wahr werden: Daten!

Leider sind wir gezwungen das nach Nordamerika zu verschenken, sonst wird Opa Trump traurig. Die EU weiß das und hält alles zurück, was ihn Trübsal blasen lassen könnte.

Deshalb ein kleiner Tipp für eine App, die praktisch ist und das macht, was sie soll, ohne einen Datenaderlass.

Wetter zum Beispiel, das interessiert uns alle, vor allem, wenn wir die Tage loswollen und nicht wissen, ob wir einen Regenschirm brauchen. Es wäre von Vorteil, wenn wir das rechtzeitig wissen!

Ausprobieren kostet nix und wer etwas zu Jammern hat, der teilt es den Entwicklern mit, die lernen gerne dazu, sie meckern nicht, sonst hätten sie niemals angefangen!

Based on user feedback I’m working on adding a ‘country’ and ‘alcohol percentage’ field to my app BeerDiary. To get it just right it took more time than expected but I think I’m getting there. The alcohol selector features haptic feedback, it was nice to experiment with that.

jrnl : Alternativa a vimwiki, probabilmente più semplice da usare (meno comandi da tenere a mente). Funziona più come un diario che come un wiki. Se tuttavia vi serve un "diario" di appunti vari da usare via shell, che salvi i files in formato testuale (usabili anche fra cent'anni....) e funzioni nella shell (leggero sulla ram)....
