Our metalhead.club advertising campaign in Wacken ended on Monday. Time to take a look at the results.
Our advertising campaign was well received in the Fediverse. My post about it was shared over 400 times and liked more than 630 times.
However, the actual goal was to attract new users via the poster. As feared, the results are less than promising.
Unfortunately, based on the registration applications, it cannot be said that a single new user created an account during this period because of the advertisement. It is possible that this happened, but even then, the number of new registrations does not stand out from those of previous months.

Video público, de 30 segundos, subido hace casi 3 años, con 360 mil vistas, con 842 «👍» y 1,3 mil «👎». Los comentarios ponen el grito en el cielo, y me hicieron acordar a tarotistas en YT que en varias oportunidades tapan parcialmente las cartas de La Estrella, El Mundo o Los Enamorados, porque si no YT las penaliza.

I was reading this article [https://www.onepict.com/20250628-plussustain.html] on Matrix as I finally started using the service this past month. I had seen a post, talking about the idea of dismantling Matrix and starting from scratch, and have heard others talk about it as an unmoderated mess.
Happy to report that my experiences using Matrix have been absolutely rock solid. I have used Element, Thunderbird, and now Fractal as clients and having this new messaging system has been a real eye opener to me. So much so that, by October, I definitely plan to start sponsoring with an individual membership.
For background: the messaging system I used growing up was Skype and Mumble. Outside of that, I had to use text messages. I never really got into FOSS until much later in my life, pretty much the last 3 years, but the importance of these decentralized systems have been eye-opening. Every time Discord updates and changes their UI, it becomes more and more irriating to use.
I still think Matrix has a long way to get most of my circle to join - be it streaming to friends who do Art or want to host a watch party, but I honestly think that the community should come together to lift Matrix up, rather than fighting over making a new system. Currently, Matrix seems to work pretty damn well and using its base and building on top of that is the best way forward.

Companies like Meta offer millions to single AI persons. They should have the money for supporting #Python with a very small portion of their budgets.

@Sumocat ...I could "exfiltrate" these exported files from my #iPad to my #RaspberryPi over SMB (rapidly taking the files out of the "walled garden" in bulk), but only after some meticulous, unintiutive Samba configuring. #Copyparty, in comparison, was a lot less difficult to configure before this copying (to the same RaspberryPi) was easily done.
