Na wegen sowas zum Beispiel: Lt. #Reuters wurden US-Diplomaten angewiesen, sich aktiv gegen Regulierungsversuche von US-Technologieunternehmen anderer Länder einzusetzen. Das kann man jetzt so hinnehmen – oder auch nicht. Auch wenn noch nicht in allen Bereichen die Alternativen überzeugen – es gibt schon einen ganzen Schwung Lösungen, die produktiv und kosteneffizient den USA-Klassikern die Stirn bieten.

Oczywiście możemy to robić na własnym sprzęcie ulokowanym w domu czy biurze, co wiąże się z kilkoma sztuczkami, jak te usługi “wystawić” na świat (lub tylko dla wybranych użytkowników). Jednak ja obrałem prawdopodobnie prostszą ścieżkę, wynajmując VPS-a (Virtual Private Server) u naszych niemieckich sąsiadów. Wybór padł na Hetznera, bo i ceny niezłe, i działanie niczego sobie. Ty zrób tak, aby było ci wygodnie i najlepiej nie za drogo. W każdym razie mój setup mi na razie odpowiada. Przejdźmy zatem do kolejnych aplikacji, które serwuje mój YunoHost. [...]

After a while, I managed to find out a way to do it! You need to create a new app on the instance you're logging in to, I thought this would require authentication but apparently it doesn't.
So now, the login flow looks like this :
- User clicks "Log in" and picks their instance (like example.social)
- The site creates a new app on example.social, with its name, URL and the permission scopes it needs
- example.social responds with a unique client ID and client secret
- Use these to authenticate and authorize the app where the user will have to say they agree that my sites reads their account
- example.com returns a code that I can use to get the auth token for this user
- Use the auth token for authenticated API calls!
Basically instead of having 1 app and many users, there's 1 app per user per instance and so I no longer need to hardcode client secrets, improving the security!

Had to use the work #Instagram. The tagged photos are all gone from the profile page. Instead you have to go into your settings and four layers of menus to find them now.
So glad I stopped using this for personal stuff years ago. The stupid decisions their designers make just so they can claim longer interaction times from users.

After my upgrade to #komodo 2.0 failed miserably (or rather, the update to the Periphery agents, which all lost connectivity to the server and I couldn't get it back), and me not wanting to spend extra time debugging it, I moved my #docker management to #dockhand.
I don't miss any functionality for my use case, so that's a plus. Also appreciated: the automatic updates, which I used in Komodo, too.
Meanwhile, Linux Update Dashboard has been helping me keep my #homelab servers updated.
Currently running a fully updated homelab, feels nice.
