@shoq @joyannreid Turning off push notifications to protect privacy only works if all parties do the same (if one does not, then the messages are compromised on that one device. Most people leave them on for usability sake.
I now understand why #Telegram created two types of chat within their app: regular chat & secret chat. The latter does not show up in push notifications on either end. https://t.me/durov/485

J'ai appris par une amie Gazaouie que #BlueSky bloque les comptes des Palestinien•nes en recherche d'aide.
Après avoir enquêté un peu de mon côté (et pour être sûr•e que ce ne soit leur tranquilité blanche qui souhaitait rester loin de la misère et des demandes d'aide face à l'urgence), il s'avère que beaucoup de #scammers y sévissaient, profitant de la générosité et solidarité des utilisateurices, invisibilisant ainsi les personnes qui sont RÉELLEMENT dans le besoin.

woooo time for a kiki update. this one is a bugfix release that corrects two super annoying problems with RSS feed generation.
while we all love RSS, it has to be one of the most finicky protocols to actually write code for 😅. every client seems to have its own quirks. so here's my attempt at keeping the protocol alive and happy:
- RSS feeds now show the correct pubdate time because it now takes timezone into consideration, and then converts your timezone to GMT.
- under very weird and unknown conditions, incorrect rss URLs were being generated. While I couldn't reproduce the exact cause (I suspect it was due to robots scraping kiki instances and the PHP server not generating browser variables for them), I was able to eliminate the bug with a small change to how URLs are generated.

Pope Leo calls for end to 'madness of war'
Pope Leo on Saturday urged world leaders to end what he called the "madness of war," in an impassioned appeal as senior US and Iranian officials met in Pakistan to discuss ending the six-week conflict.
At a special prayer vigil in St. Peter's Basilica, the first US pope decried the use of religious language to justify war and said a "delusion of omnipotence that surrounds us... is becoming increasingly unpredictable".

Aujourd’hui, l’Iran mène une lutte véritablement révolutionnaire contre la réaction, et il est du devoir de chaque communiste de soutenir la lutte objectivement progressiste du peuple iranien héroïque contre l’impérialisme et le sionisme !
Une fois de plus, nous avons vu qui perpètre cette tyrannie et qui se moque de la vie des civils. Bombarder des écoles et des hôpitaux, assassiner des civils : voilà ce que représentent les politiques impérialistes et sionistes.
Les États-Unis et Israël ambitionnent de reproduire ce qu’ont accompli les impérialistes américains en 1953, lorsqu’avec l’implication directe de la CIA (opération Ajax), ils ont renversé le Premier ministre iranien démocratiquement élu, Mohammad Mossadegh, en raison de sa politique de nationalisation du secteur pétrolier et gazier. Par la suite, le pays a été gouverné par le régime quasi fantoche du Shah jusqu’à la révolution islamique de 1979, qui a de facto aboli la monarchie. Cela a permis à l’Iran d’entrer dans une nouvelle ère de développement axée sur l’anti-impérialisme et la préservation de sa souveraineté, contrairement à d’autres pays de la région, comme l’Arabie saoudite, qui ont opté pour la coopération avec l’Occident.
Dans cet essai, nous n’aborderons pas les justifications ridicules et fallacieuses des impérialistes et des sionistes, car rien de tout cela n’est nouveau (rappelons, par exemple, l’Irak). Nous n’évoquerons pas non plus la portée géopolitique des événements actuels pour l’Arménie ; nos collègues d’Iskra l’ont déjà fait. Nous analyserons plutôt ceci : la position contre-productive selon laquelle « les deux sont pires », encore défendue par nombre de personnalités de gauche contemporaines, profite objectivement à l’impérialisme et au sionisme. Ceux qui ne l’ont pas compris en 1922, au début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, devraient le comprendre aujourd’hui.
En réalité, les slogans de la gauche moderne concernant le « régime autoritaire/théocratique » iranien, son « fondamentalisme religieux réactionnaire », etc., ne sont rien d’autre qu’un soutien voilé à l’impérialisme et au sionisme. Les camarades d’Iskra ont justement souligné que ceux qui se réjouissent de l’assassinat de Rahbar sont, en fait, de faux communistes. Analysons la racine du problème pour ces gauchistes, qui, selon nous, réside principalement en deux points.
Premièrement, ils ne peuvent discerner l’essence qui se cache derrière la forme et, tout aussi important, ils ne peuvent comprendre pourquoi cette essence prend une forme plutôt qu’une autre.
L’essence de la lutte de l’Iran contre les agresseurs américain et israélien réside dans son caractère anti-impérialiste. L’Iran est actuellement le principal allié du peuple palestinien dans la lutte contre le sionisme. C’est le seul pays de la région qui sape l’hégémonie occidentale, empêche l’expansion de l’influence impérialiste et dispose de ressources suffisantes ainsi que d’un complexe militaro-industriel développé. L’Iran est anti-impérialiste dans la mesure où il brise efficacement les chaînes de l’impérialisme américain et du sionisme israélien.
Ce combat iranien prend une forme religieuse spécifique, étroitement liée à la révolution islamique. Essentiellement, la révolution islamique de 1979 était une lutte anti-impérialiste, et les événements actuels en sont la continuation directe.
Et ce sont précisément les conditions matérielles de l’Iran, notamment son histoire, sa culture, ses traditions, etc., qui ont déterminé et continuent de déterminer la forme nationale et religieuse spécifique que prend sa lutte anti-impérialiste.
Ce que la gauche moderne peine fondamentalement à comprendre, c’est que la lutte anti-impérialiste n’est jamais abstraite ; elle est toujours concrète. Elle est concrète car elle prend toujours une forme spécifique, dictée par les conditions objectives de chaque pays, par ses caractéristiques particulières, qu’il est impossible d’ignorer.
Par exemple, la révolution vénézuélienne, initiée par Hugo Chávez, était étroitement liée à la figure du libérateur national Simón Bolívar, et de ce fait, la révolution a acquis cette forme nationale spécifique, qui fut sans équivoque appelée la révolution bolivarienne.
Comme on le voit, la forme précise de la lutte dépend du contexte culturel et historique propre à chaque État. Cependant, il s’agit toujours, au fond, de la même lutte anti-impérialiste. On ne saurait donc dissocier le fond de la réalité pour ne retenir que la forme, ni l’inverse. Forme et essence sont dialectiquement liées.
La gauche moderne est disposée à soutenir verbalement la lutte anti-impérialiste abstraite, mais dès que cette lutte prend des formes concrètes, conditionnées par des particularités nationales, elle retire son soutien. Ainsi, elle observe l’Iran et n’en perçoit que la dimension islamique, occultant son essence anti-impérialiste. Elle ne comprend pas que cette essence anti-impérialiste iranienne s’est matérialisée naturellement lors de la Révolution islamique.
En se penchant sur l’histoire de l’Iran, on constate que le chiisme a joué un rôle déterminant dans la formation du mouvement de libération nationale durant la période de semi-colonisation. Les célèbres manifestations antitabac, qui ont débuté le 8 mars 1890, illustrent clairement l’autonomie du chiisme, lui permettant de jouer un rôle clé dans l’abrogation de la concession sur le tabac signée entre le Shah et les Britanniques.
Il est donc essentiel de comprendre que, dans le contexte iranien, l’anti-impérialisme et l’islam chiite, avec sa forme unique de lutte et de gouvernance, sont inextricablement liés. De la fin du XIXe siècle à nos jours, l’islam chiite a été la seule structure qui soit véritablement parvenue à unir les masses, en restant hors de portée du Shah et des capitaux étrangers.
Par conséquent, dans le contexte iranien, la pensée anti-impérialiste ne pouvait que prendre précisément la forme qu’elle avait en 1979. En Iran, le « fondamentalisme religieux réactionnaire » qui inquiète tant certains secteurs de la gauche, avec toutes ses lacunes, fait partie intégrante de la lutte anti-impérialiste du pays, conditionnée par les circonstances spécifiques de l’Iran.
Cette approche a produit des résultats concrets qui restent pertinents aujourd’hui. Après 1979, des secteurs clés, dont les banques, ont été renationalisés, permettant à l’Iran de conserver sa souveraineté financière et d’éviter l’endettement auprès du FMI, contrairement à de nombreux régimes dits « modérés » de la région. De plus, malgré la représentation médiatique et les sanctions et pressions américaines, les indicateurs sociaux se sont considérablement améliorés : le taux d’alphabétisation des femmes est passé de 35,5 % en 1976 à 74,2 % en 1996, et la mise en place d’un réseau de centres de santé dans les zones rurales a été rendue possible précisément par l’arrêt des versements des revenus pétroliers sur les comptes occidentaux, comme cela avait été le cas sous le règne du Shah.
Comme le souligne un rapport de la Banque mondiale de juin 2008 sur les réformes sanitaires en Iran depuis la révolution islamique :
La période qui a suivi la révolution de 1979 a été marquée par une réorganisation relativement rapide des institutions étatiques et de la politique sociale. Les politiques mises en œuvre visaient à fournir à l’ensemble de la population des services et des prestations de base, notamment l’enseignement primaire universel, les soins de santé primaires, l’accès à l’eau potable et aux denrées alimentaires de base. Après la révolution, l’accent mis par le gouvernement sur les soins de santé primaires en milieu rural s’est avéré efficace pour améliorer les indicateurs de santé globaux. Ces tendances positives se sont maintenues.

Tirons donc une conclusion intermédiaire de ce qui précède : tenter de rejeter la forme ou, au contraire, ne pas parvenir à voir l’essence qui se cache derrière la forme et ne pas comprendre pourquoi cette essence a adopté cette forme particulière, revient à revenir de la dialectique à la métaphysique.
Deuxièmement, ces gauchistes qui adoptent la position selon laquelle « les deux sont mauvais » ne peuvent renoncer à leur « fétichisme de la pureté », qui consiste à refuser de soutenir toute lutte progressiste et anti-impérialiste parce que cette lutte n’est pas « pure » ou « idéale », et ne correspond pas à leurs idées et fantasmes subjectifs.
Ceci, bien sûr, masque un problème plus vaste, qui réside dans une mauvaise interprétation des lois de la dialectique. Selon la dialectique, rien au monde n’est fondamentalement « pur » ou « idéal », puisque le monde est intrinsèquement contradictoire, et le « pur » et l’« idéal » sont dépourvus de vie. Concrètement, dans le cas de l’Iran, ce « fétichisme de la pureté » se manifeste par les slogans susmentionnés concernant l’« autoritarisme » iranien, son « fondamentalisme religieux réactionnaire » et, par conséquent, par le refus de soutenir la lutte iranienne en raison de ses prétendues faiblesses et de son « impureté ».
Examinons ce qui se cache derrière cette prétendue « impureté » de l’Iran « autoritaire ». Dans les premières années qui ont suivi la révolution islamique, l’Iran a effectivement connu une période de répression politique, même contre les militants de gauche qui, soit dit en passant, avaient initialement soutenu la révolution, mais qui, après les répressions massives, se sont ouvertement opposés au régime islamique.
Il convient toutefois de noter que la gauche, et le parti Tudeh en particulier, n’exerçait pratiquement aucune autorité ni influence sur la population depuis la fin des années 1940. De plus, son opposition initiale et ouverte à Mossadegh et au Front national dans son ensemble constitua une grave erreur. Ce n’est que dans une situation critique – et alors, sans prendre de mesures décisives – qu’elle commença à apporter un soutien partiel au Premier ministre, mais il était déjà trop tard. Globalement, la gauche était fortement pro-URSS, ce qui en soi n’est pas négatif. Cependant, en se concentrant sur le centre extérieur, elle a souvent négligé les spécificités nationales, manquant de liens étroits avec les masses – terreau fertile même d’où pourrait émerger plus tard l’anti-impérialisme islamique.
De toute évidence, le renversement de Mossadegh, avec l’implication directe de la CIA, a démontré aux Iraniens le prix à payer pour toute tentative de mener une politique indépendante. C’est précisément pour cette raison que Rahabar Khomeini a adopté une position anti-impérialiste de principe et ne pouvait tolérer l’émergence de forces internes susceptibles de rouvrir le pays à l’Occident. Dans un contexte où la moindre hésitation pouvait coûter la souveraineté, la fermeté n’était pas un caprice, mais une condition de survie pour l’État.
Il ressort clairement de cela que toute révolution, confrontée à l’hostilité, est contrainte de se défendre. Un marxiste se doit d’analyser de telles mesures à l’aune des circonstances objectives, plutôt que de porter des jugements moraux abstraits a posteriori, car c’est précisément ce que font nos adversaires lorsqu’ils parlent de « répressions dans les pays socialistes » de manière abstraite, ignorant le contexte historique. Nous ne pouvons imiter leurs méthodes sans tomber dans le même raisonnement métaphysique que nous critiquons.
Un autre exemple flagrant de « l’impureté » de l’Iran est l’épisode de 2003, qui démontre clairement que la classe dirigeante iranienne n’est pas exempte de contradictions et d’hésitations internes.
Suite à l’invasion américaine de l’Irak, les autorités iraniennes, craignant sérieusement la présence militaire américaine à leurs frontières, ont exprimé leur volonté de signer un accord majeur avec l’Occident sur le nucléaire et d’autres questions. De fait, elles se sont montrées ouvertes à la négociation.
Les États-Unis ont ignoré cette proposition, une décision que même les analystes occidentaux ont par la suite qualifiée de colossale erreur diplomatique. Cependant, un autre aspect important mérite d’être souligné : même les pays anti-impérialistes ne sont pas à l’abri de la peur, du doute et des erreurs. L’Iran d’aujourd’hui, et plus particulièrement celui de 2003, n’est pas un État anti-impérialiste « pur » et « idéal », mais un organisme politique vivant qui apprend, commet des erreurs et en tire des conclusions.
Il en découle une chose : la lutte anti-impérialiste n’est jamais « stérile », et exiger d’elle une « pureté » revient, objectivement, à faire le jeu de ceux qui répriment cette lutte.
Il convient de noter que l’incapacité à comprendre que rien n’est « pur » joue un rôle fondamental non seulement dans le refus de soutenir toute lutte anti-impérialiste, mais aussi dans le refus de reconnaître et de soutenir les États socialistes modernes tels que la Chine, la Corée du Nord, Cuba et d’autres.
Tout comme dans la lutte anti-impérialiste, le socialisme est toujours concret et ses particularités varient d’un pays à l’autre. Or, la gauche moderne ne soutient qu’un socialisme abstrait et, dès qu’il s’agit de la construction réelle et concrète du socialisme dans un pays donné – construction qui, bien sûr, sera inévitablement entachée d’erreurs et ne sera jamais « pure » –, elle retire son soutien.
Ainsi, le socialisme, ou sa construction dans les pays susmentionnés, ne correspond pas à l’idéal de socialisme « pur » conçu par la gauche moderne. Par conséquent, celle-ci ne reconnaît pas ces États comme socialistes et, de ce fait, ne les soutient pas, les considérant comme de simples pays capitalistes, ce qui fait le jeu de l’impérialisme. Par exemple, ne saisissant pas l’essence des réformes de Deng Xiaoping, elle ne considère pas la Chine comme socialiste car le socialisme « pur » qu’elle envisage n’y a pas été instauré et ne le sera jamais. Nombre d’eurocommunistes sont allés encore plus loin, rejetant l’expérience de la construction du socialisme en URSS en raison de son « totalitarisme ». Tout cela découle d’une mauvaise interprétation de la dialectique du mouvement et du développement, qui implique le dépassement constant des contradictions.
Dans le cas de l’Iran, ils refusent de soutenir la lutte objectivement anti-impérialiste du peuple iranien, arguant que l’Iran, à leurs yeux, ne répond pas aux critères de « pureté » car il s’agit d’une « théocratie autoritaire » et, plus généralement, d’un « État bourgeois » (comme c’est le cas pour la Fédération de Russie dans le contexte du District militaire central), voire pire. Bien entendu, ce refus de principe de reconnaître le véritable esprit révolutionnaire qui anime l’Iran aujourd’hui ne profite qu’à l’impérialisme et au sionisme, puisque ce sont eux qui s’opposent désormais à l’État islamique, prônent le « renversement de la tyrannie » et, de façon tout aussi révélatrice, le retour du Shah fantoche sur le trône.
Dans son ouvrage « Le fétichisme de la pureté et la crise du marxisme occidental », le médecin cubano-américain et membre de l’ACP Carlos L. Garrido apporte davantage de détails sur le « fétichisme de la pureté » et d’autres aspects très inquiétants concernant les soi-disant « marxistes occidentaux ».
En résumé, nombre de personnalités de gauche contemporaines illustrent parfaitement le concept de « contre-hégémonie modérée », un phénomène caractérisé par le fait que leur rhétorique, en apparence radicale, ne représente en réalité aucune menace pour l’impérialisme. En refusant de soutenir le véritable mouvement révolutionnaire et – malgré ses contradictions internes – anti-impérialiste du peuple iranien, elles ont opté pour l’impérialisme et le sionisme.
Son raisonnement repose sur deux substitutions. Premièrement, l’essence anti-impérialiste de l’Iran est remplacée par sa forme islamique, niant ainsi le lien étroit qui existe entre les deux. Ensuite, les contradictions internes de l’Iran – son « impureté » – sont présentées comme une raison suffisante pour lui refuser tout soutien, alors même que sa lutte contre l’impérialisme est objectivement et objectivement progressiste.
L’origine de cette position néfaste réside, premièrement, dans une mauvaise interprétation du rapport dialectique entre forme et essence, et deuxièmement, dans un « fétichisme de la pureté ». Ce repli sur la pensée métaphysique de la gauche contemporaine nous permet d’aboutir à une conclusion très concrète : l’Iran est actuellement bien plus révolutionnaire que tous ces gauchistes contemporains qui se retranchent derrière l’argument selon lequel « les deux sont pires » ou qui soutiennent ouvertement l’impérialisme et le sionisme.
L’Iran, aussi provocateur que cela puisse paraître, lutte en un sens pour le communisme, si l’on définit le communisme comme « le véritable mouvement qui détruit l’état de choses actuel » (Karl Marx, Œuvres complètes, vol. 3, p. 34). Quoi qu’il en soit, l’Iran se situe du bon côté de l’histoire, contrairement à la gauche contemporaine qui refuse de soutenir la lutte héroïque de l’Iran contre l’impérialisme et le sionisme.
Par conséquent, nous soutenons pleinement et encourageons nos lecteurs à soutenir la lutte progressiste du peuple iranien contre la réaction ouverte.

Inspired from Rhell devlogs by Slug Glove I've been trying my hand at UV editing with wind-waker style repeating textures. Using this maybe overzealous three-layer texture I can squish UVs to form a wall making use of the x-axis repeating to prevent too much stretching. The topside could use some work though, without y-axis repeating there isn't much UV space left for grass... 1/2
