I've recently been down the rabbit hole of this guy's #YouTube channel. He's a foreman for a firm in Mississippi that does install and maintenance work for traffic signals and related systems. The complexity of the tech running traffic lights, with camera-based car sensors, GPS synchronization, and so much more, is incredible. Inside those control boxes it looks like little data centers. One fascinating aspect is that they mostly (or perhaps all) have separate hardware that watches for conflicts to avoid the nightmare situation of lights being green in a way that could cause accidents, and mechanisms to force the lights into "flashing" mode when there are failures. #Приложения криво работающие в оффлайне невероятно раздражают. Хочу #оффлайн режим в яндекс-музыке по умолчанию. Мне до пизды их волна, хуйна, новые релизы и подборки, мне нужна #музыка через 1 секунду после подключения телефона к машине, когда я в паркинге, где ничего не ловит или пробивается edge (но один хер ничего не работает).
Туда же яндекс-книги. Пытаются стянуть с облака позицию для продолжения чтения, даже если в прошлый раз было известно, что устройство у пользователя было _одно_. Это. И позиция сохранена на нём. Локально. Но это ожидание - блокирующая операция, которая не даёт просто взять и продолжить читать.
Про #Telegram с его неоткрывающимися превьюхами ("спасибо" за ленивую подгрузку сообщений а чатах, только толку мне с неё) я уже ныл.
Единственное, что хоть немного лечит им мозги - авиарежим. Но его ж надо не забыть выключить... В #CarPlay это сложновато.
