Ein 15-jähriger BPoC hat sich am 01. August in einem saarländischen Gefängnis angeblich selbst umgebracht
Schon kurz nach dem angeblichen Suizid, protestierten andere jugendliche Gefangene in der Justizvollzugsanstalt und weigerten sich, nach dem Spaziergang zurück in die Zellen zu gehen.
Die Anstaltsleitung in Ottweiler (Saarland) ließ ein Sondereinsatzkommando gegen die Jugendlichen anrücken.
Nun will in einer nichtöffentliche Sitzung am Dienstag, der Justizausschuss des saarländischen Landtages über den Suizid beraten, auch deshalb weil es Aussagen gibt, der 15-jährige Gefangene sei vor seinem Tod, von einem Wärter geschlagen worden.
Zudem soll es rassistische Anfeindungen gegeben haben. Der Bund der Strafvollzugsbediensteten (Gewerkschaft der JVA Bediensteten) hat auf der Startseite seiner Homepage eine Trauerkerze- aber nicht der Tod des 15-jährigen wird betrauert, sondern der eines Gewerkschaftskollegen. Der Tod des jungen BPoC-Gefangenen ist der Gewerkschaft nur den Hinweis wert, dass für ihre "betroffenen Kolleginnen und Kollegen (...) die Unschuldsvermutung" gelte.
Selbstverständlich sind rassistische Übergriffe und Anfeindungen hinter Gittern alltägliche Praxis. Und immer wieder kommen Gefangene auch ums Leben, so wie Ferhat Mayouf, der vor genau fünf Jahren in Berlin-Tegel in seiner brennenden Zelle erstickte.
Wenn eine Anstaltsleitung gegen fast-noch Kinder ein extrem hochgerüstetes SEK in Marsch setzt, dann wird deutlich, was für ein gewalttätiges Klima in der JVA Ottweiler herrscht.

with debian 13 Trixie just out I noticed this is now at a level supported by incus, an LXD / LXC fork but ubuntu server at 2404 is already supported so I just upgraded a server I have using Ubuntu `do-release-upgrade` which worked totally fine.
I've been a debian / ubuntu / mint user for a while now and find the stability of these platforms refreshing and reassuring. Its been a while since I did a `do-release-ugrade` preferring to blow servers away and rebuild with infrastructure as code but this time I thought I'd try it again and found it as easy and reliable as before. 1 command, a few simple questions, all default often and awy we go
