Instagram po raz kolejny wywołał falę krytyki, wprowadzając w sierpniu br. zmiany, które zdaniem wielu użytkowników oddalają aplikację od jej korzeni i naruszają poczucie prywatności.
W sieci zawrzało po odkryciu dwóch nowych, kontrowersyjnych funkcji: mapy udostępniającej lokalizację znajomym oraz zakładki, która upublicznia polubione przez nas Rolki. Rosnąca frustracja podsyca znaną od lat dyskusję o tym, czy w pogoni za trendami Instagram nie zatracił swojej tożsamości.
Nowa mapa może zdradzać Twoją lokalizację
Największe kontrowersje budzi nowa funkcja mapy, zintegrowana z systemem wiadomości. Po jej aktywacji, nasi znajomi (osoby, które obserwujemy i które obserwują nas) mogą zobaczyć naszą ostatnią znaną lokalizację za każdym razem, gdy otwieramy aplikację. Choć funkcja jest domyślnie wyłączona i wymaga świadomej zgody (opt-in), wielu użytkowników w mediach społecznościowych donosi, że aktywowało ją przypadkowo lub nie zdawało sobie sprawy ze skali udostępnianych danych. Perspektywa, że nasza dokładna lokalizacja może być widoczna dla dziesiątek, a czasem setek znajomych, przez wielu została określona jako „przerażająca”.
Twoje polubienia na widoku publicznym
Drugą nowością, która wywołała poruszenie, jest zakładka „Znajomi” w sekcji Rolek. Pokazuje ona nie tylko Rolki opublikowane lub udostępnione przez naszych znajomych, ale także te, które polubili lub skomentowali.
W praktyce oznacza to, że nasze interakcje, które do tej pory uważaliśmy za względnie prywatne, stają się formą publicznej rekomendacji dla innych. Granica między tym, co oglądamy dla siebie, a tym, co świadomie polecamy, została zatarta, co może prowadzić do niezręcznych sytuacji. Na szczęście, jeżeli faktycznie korzystacie z Instagrama, można zapobiec nadmiernemu udostępnianiu własnych danych.
Jak chronić swoją prywatność?
Nad obiema nowościami można zapanować. Oto, jak krok po kroku wyłączyć kontrowersyjne funkcje i odzyskać kontrolę nad swoimi danymi:
1. Wyłączanie mapy lokalizacji:
- Otwórz Instagram i przejdź do sekcji Wiadomości (ikona w prawym górnym rogu).
- Na górze listy konwersacji powinna pojawić się opcja Mapa. Stuknij w nią (jeżeli nie widzisz tej opcji, zmiany w Instagramie nie zostały jeszcze wdrożone na twoim koncie).
- W prawym górnym rogu mapy znajdziesz ikonę Ustawień (koło zębate).
- W sekcji „Kto może zobaczyć Twoją lokalizację” zaznacz opcję Nikt. Możesz zostać poproszony o potwierdzenie wyboru do momentu ponownego włączenia.
- Dodatkowo warto sprawdzić ogólne uprawnienia aplikacji w ustawieniach telefonu (Ustawienia -> Instagram -> Lokalizacja) i wybrać opcję „Nigdy” lub „Pytaj następnym razem”.
2. Wyłączanie udostępniania polubień w Rolkach:
- Przejdź do swojego Profilu i stuknij w ikonę menu (trzy poziome kreski) w prawym górnym rogu.
- Przewiń w dół do sekcji „Kto może zobaczyć Twoje materiały” i wybierz Aktywność w karcie Znajomi.
- Zaznacz opcję Nikt, aby Twoje polubienia i komentarze pod Rolkami nie były pokazywane Twoim znajomym w tej sekcji.
Głosy krytyki i utracona tożsamość
Nowe funkcje to tylko kolejny dowód na kryzys tożsamości Instagrama. Jak pisze Andy Meek z BGR.com, aplikacja stała się „przeładowaną, frankensteinową wersją samej siebie”. Trudno nie zgodzić się z tą opinią, pamiętając, że już w 2023 roku współzałożyciel Instagrama, Kevin Systrom, publicznie ubolewał, że jego dzieło „straciło duszę” na rzecz reklam i niekończącego się kopiowania funkcji od konkurencji. Wygląda na to, że pogoń za zaangażowaniem po trupach prywatności i prostoty trwa w najlepsze. A przypomnę tylko, że niedawno za przeładowanie oberwało się Mozilli za jej nowego Firefoksa.

Today I did my first #Windows11 install of Python3.13 on a machine that did not have #Python before.
I selected to also install the experimental free-threading build and was a bit surprised when the py launcher chose this build as the new default for the "py" and "py -3" commands.
The launcher probably thinks that "3.13t" is newer than "3.13".
Setting the user environment variable
PY_PYTHON=3.13 fixed that behaviour for me.
