Say I follow friend “A” and at 8am they have 3 stories and I viewed them.
At 11am, friend A has 2 new stories. But instead of showing the 2 new stories, it shows me the previous 3 stories and then it shows the 2 new ones.
Why doesn’t it know I’ve already watch the 3 from this morning and to just show me the 2 new ones.

I'm sure some of you are already aware, but some are boycotting Youtube for their AI age "detection" and requirement of government I.D. to continue watching mature content. I've spent the last few days downloading some of my favorite videos, and I'll be swearing off of the site as long as I possibly can.
I can't tell if the boycott has caused any dip in their traffic or not, as the traffic analysis sites I've come across don't give daily traffic estimates. I'm not sure if it even will make any difference, as some comments I've seen are implying that they're only boycotting today. Sigh.
I do intend to continue with it, if only out of principle. I was previously fed up with them serving scam ads with links to sites with ACTUAL MALWARE and even shadowbanning my comments at one point, simply for not self-censoring references to serious topics. I put up with it then after installing an adblocker.
But the line must be drawn here! No further! 
Plus, it's really opened my eyes to how over-dependent I've become on the site for my entertainment and learning, (not to mention how much time I sink in each day listening to social commentary videos that really add nothing to my life.)
Main things I've used it for have been music, and commentary to put on in the background as I work. Pandora has been pretty good for both those purposes; it's had nearly all the music I'm interested in and a decent selection of podcasts (I even found a good medicine-related one on there!)
As for art tutorials, I've already downloaded my most frequently-used ones. As for skills I haven't learned...I suppose this will finally motivate me to open up my art books that have been collecting dust for the past year or so 😅

It's really simple. You travel to all of these different places in a village and you basically interact with things by typing commands.
The aim of the game is to prepare for an adventure by obtaining items. The game ends when the player leaves the village. The score is based upon the amount of items and gold and good deeds completed.

A new study from two researchers at the University of Amsterdam looks at what makes social media so terrible — and found that it's not algorithms, non-chronological feeds or humans' tendency to seek out negativity. "Rather, the dynamics that give rise to all those negative outcomes are structurally embedded in the very architecture of social media. So we're probably doomed to endless toxic feedback loops unless someone hits upon a brilliant fundamental redesign that manages to change those dynamics," writes @arstechnica's @JenLucPiquant. which has informed me that apparently some people are trying to "boycott" #youtube for a single day, and this is apparently the same people who are using #invidious or #freetube, and that apparently some of these people are also treating these as actual youtube alternatives? tbh seems like either extreme stupidity or goomba fallacy.
but i'd like to clarify that i was recommending this for people who want to not-give-any-money-to-youtube for like, MORE than one day?? and also have stuff they want to watch on youtube?? and also this is better-than-nothing for people who don't want to just-not-watch-youtube?? because yes there are people who want to do something but can't just-not-watch-youtube because they are weenies?? and them doing something is better than them doing nothing?? obviously??
moreover if you're actually serious about "boycotting" youtube this should be treated as mostly transitional. actually find alternatives for some things, even if it's not a full replacement for "youtube." like a lot of my youtube usage was for music or a specific podcast, both of which i can get elsewhere which i am now doing.
p.s. if you are concerned about supporting creators, many of them have accounts you can donate to on services like patreon and ko-fi, which will make a much bigger difference than your ad revenue anyway.
