It's a crisp 20 degrees when Jody and Michael, wearing nothing but shoes and clutching mugs of coffee, soak up the winter sun.
"Perfect day to be nude," Michael says.
When people think of nudism, he says, they often picture postcard-perfect beaches or serene forests.
But what about swathes of rugged Queensland bush, where the only neighbours are cattle herds and coal mines?
Here, on 140 hectares of Queensland bushland near Miles, 340 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, Michael van West, 53, and Jody Airs, 47, have built their naturist Eden.
The only dress code? Thongs — of the flip-flop variety — to handle the spiders.
The property began as a weekend escape — a place to camp, be naked, and leave their Brisbane townhouse, where neighbouring units overlooked their "pro-nude" backyard.
But after Michael had a work accident and retired early, they permanently swapped corporate hustle for bush trails, kangaroos and no clothesline.
"It went from just a weekender and then life changed for the better," Michael says.
"Modern society, I find, is very disconnecting — this brings you back to reconnect.
"Naturism to us is about freedom, being able to walk out your front door however you want … and know you're not going to offend anyone."...

There's a whole genre of #youtube videos that consists of weirdos approaching random women - usually in the middle of shopping or something - hitting on them in the most cringy way I've ever seen, getting repeatedly rejected, then posting it online to show everyone how cool they are.
A bunch of incels cheer them on - sometimes giving them money - so they keep doing since they've never gotten attention before.

1. concerns about not keeping up with #fediblock and exposing network effects to others. it's a chore and I wish we had a good blocklist, even if soft, that was automatically synchable
2. concerns about people intentionally trying to make my server cache content that is illegal in my country (I ended up disabling caching entirely, but was still suspicious)

Ich rechne mit nur 3 Möglichen Szenarien:
1. #NATO & #RU-Beitritt der #Ukraine und #StatusQuoAnteBellum (1994-2011) was die Grenzen angeht.
2. Ukraine kündigt das #NPT auf nachdem der #StatusQuoAnteBellum (1994-2011) erreicht wurde und rüstet sich selbst nuklear gegen #Russland.
3. Russland unter #Putin wird erlaubt Neosowjetische (oder eher Neozaristische) auszuleben und die Ukraine "von #Politik und #Geografie nach #Geschichte" zu verfrachten.
Ich hoffe auf ersteres, denn wenn der #Westen hier weiter #Feigheit und #Schwäche beweist wird #Europa und die #NATO zur Lachnummer werden.
- Angesichts #AgentKrasnov im Weißen Haus mögen viele dies bereits so sehen!

Wenn man den Eindruck erzeugen will, beide Seiten spielten unfair, dann lässt man einfach Tatsachen weg.
Newsom hat in erster Linie den Republikanern angeboten, dass beide Seiten fair spielen und eigenes Gerrymandering für den Fall angekündigt, dass die Republikaner das (fair spielen) nicht tun. Das ist auch deshalb glaubwürdig, weil in Kalifornien für den Wahlkreiszuschnitt eine unabhängige Kommission verantwortlich zeichnet - der Wahlkreiszuschnitt also ganz bewusst dem politischen Wettbewerb entzogen wird.
Für ein schönes Hufeisen, welches besser ins eigene Weltbild passt, stören Fakten natürlich eher.

I think this story maybe missing one very big reason #Europeans don't want to visit the #usa at the moment.
Of course there is some resentment, but there's a bigger portion of concern I think.
We don't feel as safe going through us airports as we used to.
I don't want to be treated like a suspect when I travel. In fact I won't put up with that.

In den USA benutzt die Gerichtsbarkeit des Bundes ("federal") ein großes und weit verzweigtes Computersystem, um die Prozessakten zu verwalten. Das enthält Schwachstellen, die lange bekannt sind. Aber egal, wird schon gut gehen. Nein, es wird schiefgehen, genauer: Es ist schon schief gegangen. Bereits 2021 war das System gehackt worden; damals hatte das Justizministerium einen Leitfaden für den sicheren Umgang mit dem System herausgegeben (statt die bekannten Schwachstellen zu schließen).
