I did an upgrade in @yunohost via SSH.
While I was waiting, it asked me to press Enter to continue and then the SSH connection timed out and closed. Now when I try to log in again and upgrade it tells me "Another YunoHost command is running right now"...
...So how do I "push enter" on a SSH session that's expired?

Na platformie YouTube bez większego trudu można znaleźć pełne wersje filmowych hitów, od klasyków kina po niedawne premiery.
Choć proceder ten nie jest nowy, w sieci ponownie rozgorzała dyskusja na temat odpowiedzialności giganta za nielegalne treści. Głos w tej sprawie zabrał m.in. Artur Kurasiński, znany w branży technologicznej publicysta i przedsiębiorca, który w swojej analizie stawia tezę, że YouTube nie tylko przymyka oko na piractwo, ale wręcz na nim zarabia, a jego systemy ochrony praw autorskich są nieskuteczne.
YouTube użyje AI do wykrywania kont nieletnich. Nowe, automatyczne ograniczenia już w tym miesiącu
Problem nie polega jedynie na dostępności nielegalnych kopii filmów, ale na monetyzacji, jaka się z tym wiąże. Jak zauważa w swoim wpisie Artur Kurasiński, wiele z tych materiałów jest opatrzonych reklamami serwowanymi przez Google. Oznacza to, że zyski z milionów wyświetleć generowanych przez pirackie treści trafiają bezpośrednio do kasy właściciela platformy.
„YouTube stał się w praktyce piracką platformą VOD, tylko dostępną bez VPN w przeglądarce i wspieraną przez reklamodawców typu Coca-Cola, Apple czy Amazon” – czytamy w analizie.
Autor, powołując się na śledztwo „New York Timesa”, przytacza przykłady filmów takich jak „John Wick 2” czy „Paddington 2”, które były dostępne w całości przez wiele tygodni, a film „Heathers” z 1989 roku zdobył siedem milionów wyświetleń, zanim został usunięty. Pirackie materiały są często wgrywane na kanały o mylących nazwach, z minimalnie zmodyfikowanym obrazem (np. dodaną ramką czy lustrzanym odbiciem), aby oszukać automatyczny system Content ID, który w założeniu ma identyfikować i blokować takie treści.

Formalnie, zgodnie z amerykańską ustawą DMCA, YouTube jest zobowiązany do usuwania treści naruszających prawa autorskie. W praktyce jednak, jak podkreśla Kurasiński, cała odpowiedzialność jest przerzucona na właścicieli tych praw. To oni muszą samodzielnie wyszukiwać nielegalne kopie i zgłaszać je do usunięcia, co przy skali zjawiska jest zadaniem niemal niewykonalnym.
„Przy tysiącach kanałów i milionach minut treści dziennie jest to syzyfowa praca. A nawet gdy uda się coś usunąć to taka treść wraca chwilę później pod innym adresem” – kwituje autor.
Problem ten rodzi fundamentalne pytanie o etykę i odpowiedzialność największych platform cyfrowych. Zdaniem krytyków, główny cel YouTube’a – maksymalizacja czasu, jaki użytkownik spędza w serwisie – stoi w sprzeczności z interesem twórców i właścicieli praw autorskich. Thank you, Linux Unplugged and Jupiter Broadcasting @ironicbadger, for introducing me to Linkwarden—a FOSS gem that will change how I save, share, and preserve the web.
Like many of you, I’ve been using browser bookmarks for years. I’d save articles, tutorials, and interesting links, only to find them gone when I finally got around to reading them. Link rot is real, and it’s frustrating. But until I heard about Linkwarden https://linkwarden.app/ on Linux Unplugged https://jupiterbroadcasting.com/, I didn’t realize how much I needed a better solution.
I used to think, “Browser bookmarks are fine,” and honestly, backing them up manually from time to time isn’t a real trouble—just a slight inconvenience. My problem is that I experience massive link rot when looking into two-year-old links, often with interesting subjects on small sites—they are often just gone when I want to recall them. The problem is that saving the link isn’t saving any of the information.
But Linkwarden @linkwarden isn’t just another bookmark manager—it’s a preservation powerhouse, a collaborative hub, and a self-hosted dream. And thanks to the folks at Jupiter Broadcasting, I now understand why it’s a game-changer.
I haven’t started hosting it yet, but I definitely will, and I hope some of you out there will find it useful too.

In 2025, I have dumped Soundcloud for adopting AI, and YouTube for messing up my hard work on at least 2 videos.
I like how the videos look on PeerTube. Now, if I can figure out how to get it to stop trying to make closed caption text. It seems to ignore the ones with embedded lyrics, but the last one, which has none, didn't go so well, lol. It just wakes up halfway through to put some scrambled lyrics on the screen. Less than ideal.
Let me know if anyone has trouble streaming from my PeerTube site. I've upgraded to a 2 Gb line, so I think, for my typical traffic, it should be fine. It's also hosting this Mastodon instance.

US Pressure Might Inadvertently Bring India And China Back Together
Any meaningful improvement of Sino-Indo ties, especially in the economic dimension, could prompt Trump to either walk back his hardline policy on India to court it away from China or punitively double down on this approach.
The pretext upon which Trump recently doubled tariffs on India to 50% was its continued trade with Russia, which India has refused to curtail for the five reasons explained here, yet it turns out that the US-Russian trade increased by 20% since he returned to office. This was confirmed by Putin himself during his remarks to the press after he met Trump for three-hour-long talks in Anchorage late last week. Leading Indian media NDTV and others then drew attention to this blatant double standard.
No doubt should therefore remain about how hellbent Trump is on derailing India’s rise as a Great Power. The real reason why he doubled tariffs on India wasn’t due to its continued trade with Russia, but to coerce it into opening up its agricultural and dairy markets to American imports. He might also have expected that displaced workers, and some of the 46% of the population employed in these industries would indeed lose their livelihoods, could then become low-cost factory labour for US companies.
Even if Trump is only driven by economic motives in this regard, his permanent policymaking bureaucracy (“deep state”) likely has more sinister ones such as weaponizing the large-scale socio-political unrest that would inevitably follow massive unemployment among Indian farmers. No self-respecting leader could accept these consequences and that’s why Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged during his speech on India’s Independence Day to support his country’s agricultural industry.
It was little wonder then that NDTV cited sources to report shortly thereafter that a US trade team’s visit to India in late August has been called off and will likely be rescheduled for an as-yet unknown date. Several days prior, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent publicly called on the EU to emulate his country’s “secondary sanctions, or secondary tariffs, on India because of their consumption of Russian oil”. The EU still purchases Russian energy, however, so any such sanctions/tariffs would be as hypocritical as the US’.
Nevertheless, seeing as how the EU just subordinated itself as the US’ largest-ever vassal state via their lopsided trade deal, it can’t be ruled out that it’ll follow its patron’s lead. The combined effect of major US and EU tariffs on India could decelerate its growth, which is the fastest in the world, but the socio-political consequences would still be more manageable than if it opened its agricultural and dairy markets to their exports. India might thus soon recalibrate its multi-alignment policy accordingly.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in India for the first time in three years to discuss their unresolved border dispute that’s toxified bilateral ties since their lethal clashes in summer 2020. Modi will then visit Tianjin at the end of the month for the SCO leaders’ summit. India’s worsening ties with the West, first the US and perhaps soon also the EU, might thus serve as the catalyst for taking its incipient rapprochement with China even further through the resumption of border trade as reported.
Any meaningful improvement of Sino-Indo ties, especially in the economic dimension (which might first require making progress on resolving their border dispute), could prompt Trump to either walk back his hardline policy on India to court it away from China or punitively double down on this approach. The first could help repair their ties even though India’s trust in the US might remain shattered while the second could turbocharge multipolar processes. Observers should therefore keep a very close eye on all of this.

If you're writing a library, you should really avoid #CMake. CMake is designed to lock you in. As in, once you release a #FreeSoftware project using CMake, you can't switch to another build system with causing real trouble to your users. And if you support multiple build systems, as soon as you start supporting CMake, some of your users are going to start locking everyone else in.
That's because CMake uses a custom package discovery mechanism that's hardly compatible with anything else, and that is so complex that it's very hard to reimplement it with any other build system. So when others start relying on the CMake config files being installed (and they naturally will, since that's how CMake does things), you can't stop installing them without actually breaking stuff. And if you want to preserve them without actually using CMake, well, good luck with that.
And if CMake is one of the options you support, then some of your consumers will accidentally start relying on it anyway. And this will be much worse for everyone, because now their projects won't work for people who build your project with any other build system. Which in turn will force more projects to use CMake anyway. Which in turn will make more people rely on CMake being used…
Use #Meson as the build system, it's clean and not designed to lock you in. Use pkg-config for library data; it's simple and portable.
